Liverpool begin the defense of their Premier League title by hosting Championship winners Leeds on Saturday, September 12 at Anfield, and the match kicks off at 3pm (UK).
The 2019/20 season will go down in Liverpool folklore as heroic and historic after Jurgen Klopp’s men ended Liverpool’s 30-year wait for a league title. They also won the UEFA Super Cup and became FIFA World Club champions. But after having such an exhausting campaign, everybody would like to know if there is anything left in the tank of the Red machine? The best club in the Championship probably won't be too impressed and will leave no margin for complacency.
Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds side is looking to establish themselves back in the Premier League, after a 16-year absence from English football's top flight. Leeds finished their campaign ten points above the second-placed West Brom, after finishing the season on a high note. They won 12 of their last 14 games, and were brilliant throughout the whole season. Ben White, Liam Cooper, Luke Ayling, Kalvin Phillips and Jack Harrison were the outstanding team players, while Patrick Bamford and Pablo Hernandez did most of the scoring.
LIVERPOOL VS LEEDS MATCH ANALYSIS
For the most part, the 2020/2012's Reds are the same team as last year. There have only been half-rumors predicting the departure of Salah or Mane (or both) to Spain, but as of yet, there haven't been any major moves in or out for Liverpool. The only signing of note so far, was the addition of a Greek international, a left-back Kostas Tsimikas.
Liverpool will be up for it at the beginning of this season. They had enough time to give their players a rest and to prepare for the upcoming campaign, and will be boosted by the return of Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold from injuries. There shouldn't be too many changes in the starting eleven but the chances that they'll lose focus and intensity are slim.
Leeds and Bielsa's success over the last two seasons is a rich chapter in the club's history. The Premier League is the new challenge, and what Bielsa demands of his team won't be matched by many teams outside the top four. Opponents will have to count on hard work to match Leeds' pressing game and only few teams will be better physically and tactically prepared.
Leeds addressed the bigger concern heading into the season, which was the lack of a true striker to lead the attack. Patrick Bamford managed 16 goals last season, but he is not top Premier League material. So, they signed Valencia's Rodrigo in a club record £27m deal, which should add PL level quality to their attack.

With some minor tweaks, Klopp is expected to stick with a similar game plan, the one that brought them the UCL trophy in 2019 and their first PL trophy ever in 2020. They won't rest on their laurels and, as Red's players have told us repeatedly, will be as hungry for success as ever. More of the same can be said for this Leeds side, which will be just as excited to get going after they made it to the Premier League.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
