LIVERPOOL VS MAN UTD MATCH ANALYSIS
Without a win across their last three Premier League games (D2, L1), Liverpool have lost first place in the Premier League to their bitter rivals Man Utd as a result. Jurgen Klopp's side is nowhere near their best at the moment but have not lost a home league match since April 2017 and have a solid recent record against United, who are on an eleven-game unbeaten run in the PL (W9, D2). However, a win here for United will be a real statement of intent from the Solskjaer’s men.
Nothing’s been going right for defending champions Liverpool recently, with just one goal scored and an awful shot conversion rate of 2.22% across their three Premier League (PL) games following Christmas. Moreover, injuries continue to plague the ‘Reds’, particularly in defence, and that’ll be something the league’s best away side (W7, D1) and top away scorers (2.75 on average per match), United, will look to exploit.
In their most recent PL match against Southampton, Liverpool's Premier League title defence suffered a setback as they fell to defeat at Southampton on Monday, courtesy of Danny Ings' superb second-minute lob over Reds goalkeeper Alisson. Jurgen Klopp's side, for whom this was a second league loss of the season, looked a shadow of the team that had scored 12 goals and conceded just twice in their past four meetings with the Saints.
Man Utd, on the other hand, sits top of the table at this stage of a campaign for the first time since the Sir Alex Ferguson era and will feel this is the right time for a North West derby. The jury is still out whether United are genuine title contenders and a positive result on Sunday would certainly silence the doubters. Scoring a goal would be a start, having failed to score in four of their last five trips to Anfield.
United should be confident of being able to exploit Liverpool's defensive woes but it's difficult to long beyond their immense record at home, even if they aren't playing well at the moment. Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will bear in mind that no side has won a top-flight game at Anfield in 67 fixtures, they’ll feel confident considering they’ve won despite conceding the opener in an incredible 75% of their 2020/21 PL away games.

What can be said of this derby and one of the most famous rivalries in football that hasn’t been repeated ad nauseam over the years?
Liverpool have won their last two home PL games against Man Utd, last winning three in a row in March 2011. However, Klopp’s men are winless in three league games, failing to find the net in their last two. They last went four without a win in February 2017, while they last time failed to score in three league games on the trot in March 2005.
Man Utd, on the other hand, haven’t won their last four league games against Liverpool (D2 L2), which is their longest barren streak against their rivals since a run of five between March 2000 and January 2002.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
