Liverpool host Newcastle at Anfield (Liverpool) in the 33rd round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 12.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, April 24. Read our reasons for Liverpool vs Newcastle prediction and betting tips.
Liverpool’s top-four hopes suffered a significant wobble following a 1-1 draw at Leeds in a match that took place in the shadow of the furore created by the proposed European Super League. The result sees the Reds miss the chance to move up to the fourth spot. They remain sixth, two points adrift of West Ham. Newcastle have eased out their Premier League relegation odds after last Saturday’s dramatic 3-2 win over West Ham at St James’ Park. The Magpies surrendered a 2-0 lead but then claimed a crucial victory when Arsenal loanee Joe Willock put them back in front for good on 82 minutes. Back-to-back wins have significantly enhanced Magpies’ survival hopes, but they do now have a tough run of fixtures.
Unless the European Super League becomes an immediate reality, which as we know won’t happen, Liverpool face an uphill battle to get back into the Champions League next term. The Reds looked set for a welcome fillip when leading for a long time at Leeds on Monday night following Sadio Mane’s first-half strike. However, the Whites rallied late on, with Patrick Bamford hitting the bar before Diego Llorente headed in an 87th-minute equaliser.
The draw left Liverpool two points outside the top-four places, with Klopp's men having six games left to qualify for next season's Champions League - if they're allowed to compete in it. And games like this - which could have gone either way in the end - are an excellent advert for why football has to remain competitive and open, regardless of the desires of billionaire owners. As for Saturday’s early kick-off, Klopp’s side should be able to control proceedings here, though, while a rare break from midweek action may ease any fears of the fatigue factor.
On the other hand, Newcastle looked in deep trouble heading into the international break but are now almost safe after rallying since the return to action. After drawing 2-2 at home to Tottenham, the Magpies won 2-1 at Burnley and then edged out West Ham 3-2 on Tyneside. An Issa Diop's own goal and Joelinton’s strike put Steve Bruce’s side 2-0 up at the break, while the Hammers were down to 10 men. Diop still managed to pull one back and Jesse Lingard levelled from the spot, but Joe Willock had the last word in a thrilling finale.
The Magpies travel to Anfield buoyed by back-to-back wins which have significantly enhanced their survival hopes, but they do now have a tough run of fixtures. Newcastle must now take on Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester and Man City, before closing with Sheffield Utd and Fulham. Bruce has played down suggestions that Newcastle are safe from the drop in the Premier League. However, he believes his players have now handed themselves a chance of matching or beating last season's points tally of 44 points in the final six matches which was enough for 13th place with nine games to go.

Liverpool meet Newcastle unbeaten in their last 24 home league games against the Magpies (W20, D4) since a 0-2 loss in April 1994. Newcastle’s goalless draw against Liverpool in the reverse fixture in December ended a run of five straight defeats against the Reds. However, the Magpies remain winless in their last eight league meetings with Liverpool (D3, L5).
The Reds face an uphill battle to get back into the Champions League next term but should be able to control proceedings here and a rare break from midweek action may help them to keep up the tempo throughout.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
