Lyon will meet Marseille at the Groupama Stadium on Sunday in one of the biggest derbies of Ligue 1.
Last season’s Champions League semi-finalists Lyon are underperforming in recent weeks and they are on a four-game winless run. Coach Rudi Garcia needs to find improvement in several departments because they look weak on both sides of the pitch at this moment. Lyon is desperate for points but they are losing confidence as time flies and many of the players are unsettled because of the transfer rumors, especially Depay, Aouar, and Dembele. Lyon drew 1-1 as a visiting team against Lorient in the last round. In that match, Lyon was pressing the hosts and managed 69% possession with 19 shots at goal with 6 of them on target. Wissa (63') scored for FC Lorient and punished them for missed chances but Léo Dubois (74') equalized. Lyon is unbeaten in their previous 6 league matches at home but they need wins to make an impact at the standings. Draws with Bordeaux, Nimes, and Lorient, along with a defeat to Montpellier, have left them in the bottom half of the table. Netherlands international Memphis Depay is widely expected to return to the starting XI for the hosts. He scored a hat-trick on Matchday 1, but the team has struggled to establish a rhythm since then. The Dutchman has scored four of Lyon’s five goals this term, and with rumors of a transfer to Barcelona continuing to circulate, OL could soon be without their star man.
Lyon manager Rudi Garcia will be unable to call upon the services of Cameroonian forward Karl Toko Ekambi and midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide, who are both out due to injuries.
Lyon (3-4-3): Anthony Lopes, Jason Denayer, Marcelo, Sinaly Diomande, Leo Dubois, Jean Lucas, Bruno Guimaraes, Maxwel Cornet, Houssem Aouar, Moussa Dembele, Memphis Depay
Injured: Karl Toko Ekambi, Jeff Reine-Adelaide

Marseille is not enjoying a great spell themselves with late goals rescuing draws against Lille and Metz in their last two games. Marseille’s season began with a 3-2 win over Dijon before the Olympians claimed a rare victory over PSG on Matchday 2. However, Andre Villas-Boas’ side has since failed to win any of their last three outings. OM’s slump started with a 2-0 loss to St-Etienne, with 1-1 draws against Lille and Metz coming soon after. Sure, Marseille has only suffered one defeat so far this term. But last season’s runner-up is already five points behind frontrunner Rennes. A slow start has seen them sitting in ninth, and the likes of Florian Thauvin and Dimitri Payet will have to step up for them to replicate last season's finish.
They have a curiously exceptional away record though, having picked up eight wins and two draws from their last 10 away league games stretching back to last season, and that will give them hope of a result here. Marseille dropped two points in a 1-1 draw with Metz, with Morgan Sanson saving one point in the 5th minute of the stoppage time. In that game, Marseille had 60% possession and 17 shots at goal with 3 on target. The only player to score for Marseille was Morgan Sanson (95'). At the other end, FC Metz got 14 attempts on goal with 3 of them on target. Ibrahima Niane (71') was the scorer for FC Metz.
The good news for the visitors is that Jordan Amavi returns from suspension. Marseille has no known injury issues and manager Andre Villas-Boas is expected to have a fully fit squad at his disposal.
Marseille (4-3-3): Steve Mandanda, Hiroki Sakai, Alvaro Gonzalez, Duje Caleta-Car, Yuto Nagatomo, Valentin Rongier, Boubacar Kamara, Morgan Sanson, Florian Thauvin, Dario Benedetto, Dimitri Payet

It could be a very tough encounter with a lot of passion from both teams and many yellow or even red cards are expected. Both teams have great offensive power so both teams to score could be the most reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
