Playmakers Florian Neuhaus and Vincenzo Grifo go head-to-head when Borussia Mönchengladbach host Freiburg in Saturday night's final match-up. Read our reasons for M'gladbach vs Freiburg prediction and betting tips.
Gladbach finally addressed their plummeting form since coach Marco Rose was announced as the next Borussia Dortmund boss with a 3-0 win at bottom side Schalke on Matchday 26. That was their first after a run of seven winless games in the Bundesliga. The Foals have still lost each of their last five matches at Borussia Park. Captain Lars Stindl opened the scoring in that victory before Stefan Lainer added a second and a Frederik Rönnow own goal wrapped up a much-needed victory. It means Gladbach are just four points off a UEFA Europa League spot with eight games to play and the international break will have allowed Rose's side to reset their course going into the home stretch.
They will be without Ramy Bensebaini and Jonas Hofmann for the visit of Freiburg, however, with Oscar Wendt - who announced he will depart the club at the end of the season - set to replace the former and Valentino Lazaro, Patrick Herrmann, or Hannes Wolf in place of the latter. Former Freiburg defender Matthias Ginter is one of four players to have played every single minute of the 2020/21 campaign. Another is Freiburg captain Christian Günter, as well as Union Berlin defenders Marvin Friedrich and Robin Knoche.
Gladbach: Sommer - Lainer, Ginter, Elvedi, Wendt - Kramer, Neuhaus - Lazaro, Stindl (c), Thuram - Plea
Out: Bensebaini (suspended)
Doubtful: Hofmann (not included)
Coach: Marco Rose
Freiburg's 37 points after 26 matches of the season is an exact copy of last season, matching a club record under Streich. Freiburg are a point better off than their hosts and victory could move them into sixth should results go their way elsewhere. Goals from Philipp Leinhart and Roland Sallai sealed a 2-0 win over Augsburg before the international break, ending a run of two defeats in two for Christian Streich's men. Freiburg's last and only Bundesliga win away at Gladbach came on 1 April 1995.
They showed plenty of fight in collecting all three points, with seven Freiburg players booked last time out, one of whom - Nicolas Höfler - will miss the trip to Gladbach as a result of his 10th yellow of the campaign. Janik Haberer should profit from Höfler's absence with a start in the center of midfield and the changes may not stop there. Ermedin Demirovic could replace Guus Til in the final third, while Jonathan Schmid should also return at right-back in place of Lukas Kübler.
Freiburg: Müller - Schmid, Lienhart, Gulde, Günter (c) - Sallai, Santamaria, Haberer, Grifo - Demirovic, Höler
Out: Höfler (suspended)
Doubtful: Jeong (knock), Petersen (not included)
Coach: Christian Streich

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
