Borussia Mönchengladbach will try to go back to the top four when they host Hoffenheim on Saturday.
Gladbach was held to a 3-3 draw away to Eintracht Frankfurt on Matchday 12, the fourth time they have shared the points in their last five league assignments. The result, courtesy of Lars Stindl's stoppage-time equalizer to complete his hat-trick, keeps Gladbach in eighth place, four points off the top four. Gladbach had the second-best home record in last season's Bundesliga (38 from a possible 51 points), and are unbeaten on their home patch so far this term (W2, D4).
Their captain fantastic is set to keep his place in attacking midfield, with Thuram and Alassane Plea accompanying him in the final third. Thuram has four goals and seven assists in all competitions this season but has not hit the target in the Bundesliga since the 4-1 win over Schalke at the end of November. Thuram's two Bundesliga goals in 2020/21 have fallen at the Borussia-Park. Seven of his 10 league goals and half of his eight assists last term landed at home. There are no fresh personnel concerns for head coach Marco Rose in a busy period ahead of Christmas, though Ramy Bensebaini and Jonas Hofmann remain sidelined.
Gladbach: Sommer - Lainer, Ginter, Elvedi, Wendt - Kramer, Neuhaus - Lazaro, Stindl (c), Thuram - Plea
Doubtful: -
Out: Bensebaini (not included), Hofmann (thigh)
Coach: Marco Rose
Despite being the only club to beat Bayern Munich in 2020, Hoffenheim is still searching for their first clean sheet of the current league campaign. Eintracht Frankfurt, Mainz, and Schalke are the only other teams to have conceded at least once in every game so far this term. Hoffenheim go in search of only their fourth league win of the current campaign. Back-to-back defeats to leaders Bayer Leverkusen and Leipzig have them down in 13th place, five points clear of the bottom three and six adrift of the European places.
Hoffenheim coach Sebastian Hoeneß can welcome back defender Stefan Posch and midfield pair Florian Grillitsch and Denis Geiger from suspension but is still without defenders Ermin Bicakcic, Benjamin Hübner, Pavel Kaderabek, and Kostas Stafylidis through injury. Forward Ihlas Bebou dropped to the bench as they lost 1-0 at home to RB Leipzig on Wednesday, but could be recalled at the Borussia-Park, alongside the likes of Posch, Geiger, and Grillitsch. Kevin Akpoguma, Sebastian Rudy, Robert Skov, and Munas Dabbur are the most likely alternatives.
Hoffenheim: Baumann (c) - Posch, Vogt, Nordtveit, Sessegnon - Rudy, Samassekou - Bebou, Grillitsch, Baumgartner - Kramaric
Out: Bicakcic (knee), Hübner (ankle), Kaderabek (muscular), Stafylidis (shoulder)
Doubtful: Adamyan (not included), Belfodil (not included), Bruun Larsen (not included),
Coach: Sebastian Hoeneß

Hoffenheim is winless in their last six Bundesliga meetings with Gladbach (D4, L2) and the hosts are very close to keeping their streak in the next match. The home win is a favorable betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
