Borussia Mönchengladbach is the clear favorite in the Rhine-Derby against Koln on Saturday.
Lars Stindl, as Gladbach captain, is the Foals' top scorer this season with nine goals and four assists, while Meyer is back in the Bundesliga after an underwhelming spell with Crystal Palace in the English Premier League. Gladbach begins the day in seventh, seven places, and 14 points better off than their Rhine derby rivals and Meyer's new employers. Marco Rose's side has been picking up points with ruthless efficiency in recent weeks. Undefeated since mid-December, their 2-1 win over VfB Stuttgart in the DFB Cup on Wednesday made it six wins out of eight in all competitions.
Goalkeeper Yann Sommer was the only first-choice player rested in midweek, with Tobias Sippel standing in, but Stindl, Marcus Thuram et al are likely to start on the derby despite the short turnaround, with more than a week until next Sunday's trip to fellow European aspirants Wolfsburg. Hannes Wolf, Oscar Wendt, and Denis Zakaria are among those on standby.
Gladbach: Sommer - Lainer, Ginter, Elvedi, Bensebaini - Kramer, Neuhaus - Hofmann, Stindl (c) Thuram - Plea
Out: -
Doubtful: -
Coach: Marco Rose
Koln was also in midweek Cup action, bowing out to second-tier Jahn Regensburg after a penalty shoot-out loss. To add injury to insult, Marius Wolf came off just past the half-hour having taken a knock to his ankle. The Borussia Dortmund-owned wide man had been in fine form lately, bagging a brace as Koln beat Arminia Bielefeld 3-1 last Sunday. Benno Schmitz is likely to replace him ahead of Kingsley Ehizibue.
Coach Markus Gisdol was optimistic about how many players he would have at his disposal, although Sebastiaan Bornauw's back trouble may not be so easily dismissed. Jonas Hector has trained following a muscle strain; Meyer - pushing for Koln debut - and Elvis Rexhbecaj are on hand to partner Ellyes Skhiri in midfield should the club captain not make it.
Koln: T. Horn (c) - Mere, Czichos, J. Horn - Schmitz, Skhiri, Rexhbecaj, Katerbach - Duda, Dennis, Jakobs
Out: Andersson (knee), Kainz (knee)
Doubtful: Bornauw (back), Hector (muscular), Wolf (ankle)
Coach: Markus Gisdol

With four wins and two draws, Gladbach is - along with Eintracht Frankfurt - the only unbeaten Bundesliga team in 2021. Gladbach beat Koln 3-1 in the reverse fixture and it is favorite to win the next match.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
