Borussia M'gladbach is out to end a run of five league matches without a win when they meet also out-of-form Bayer Leverkusen side which visits Borussia-Park on Saturday. Read our reasons for M'gladbach vs Leverkusen prediction and betting tips.
Gladbach slipped to ninth in the standings after surrendering a two-goal lead in defeat to RB Leipzig last weekend. The Foals have now claimed just two points across their last five matches, and two wins in eight since beating Bayern Munich 3-2 on 8 January. Gladbach has lost their last two home league matches in a row. They haven’t lost three on the spin at Borussia-Park since September 2015. Confidence levels won't have been helped by the 1-0 loss to head coach Marco Rose's future employers Borussia Dortmund in the DFB Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday, though Marcus Thuram did have a goal ruled out for offside with the score at 0-0. Thuram netted his fourth goal of the season and second in five league matches last time out. The Frenchman scored home and away to Leverkusen the last term.
Right-back Stefan Lainer missed the Leipzig game with a hamstring problem, but returned to face BVB and is in contention to start once more. Midfielder Florian Neuhaus was also reinstated after beginning the Leipzig collapse on the bench. Goalkeeper Yann Sommer has the additional benefit of a full week's preparation, having been rested in the cup. Lars Stindl is Gladbach’s 10-goal top scorer in the Bundesliga this season. He’s scored five times in 16 meetings with Leverkusen, albeit losing 12 of them (W5, D2).
Gladbach: Sommer (c) - Lainer, Ginter, Elvedi, Bensebaini - Kramer, Neuhaus - Hofmann, Embolo, Thuram - Plea
Out: Stindl (suspended)
Doubtful: Jantschke (muscular)
Coach: Marco Rose
Leverkusen is four points better off than Gladbach, albeit five adrift of the UEFA Champions League places they occupied between Matchdays 4 to 18 after winning only two of their last 11. They've exited the DFB Cup and UEFA Europa League during that run, and make the short trip to Mönchengladbach winless in five in all competitions. As well as being without creator-in-chief Bailey, head coach Peter Bosz's plans have been rocked by the news that January signing Tim Fosu-Mensah may not play against this season after suffering a cruciate ligament tear in the 2-1 loss to Freiburg. Fellow newcomer Jeremie Frimpong also picked up a knock in that game, while teenaged midfielder Florian Wirtz is unavailable.
Aleksandar Dragovic and Kerem Demirbay are candidates to start; Moussa Diaby is all but certain to return in the attack in place of Bailey. Bailey has contributed a team-leading 12 Bundesliga goals this season (six goals, six assists). He’s netted three times in six games against Gladbach, including in the 4-3 win in the reverse fixture. His replacement Gray is averaging a goal or an assist every 39 minutes in the Bundesliga (one goal and two assists over a total of 117 minutes).
Leverkusen: Grill - Dragovic, Tah, Tapsoba, Wendell - Amiri, Aranguiz (c), Demirbay - Gray, Schick, Diaby
Out: Arias (ankle), Bailey (suspended) Baumgartlinger (knee), L. Bender (knee), Fosu-Mensah (knee), Hradecky (heel), Sinkgraven (thigh), Wirtz (not included)
Doubtful: S. Bender (knee), Frimpong (thigh), Paulinho (knee)
Coach: Peter Bosz

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
