Life is cruel for Mainz fans right now, after feeling the full force of Robert Lewandowski, the relegation-threatened club have Eintracht Frankfurt goal-getter Andre Silva to wrestle with on Saturday.
Sadly for Mainz, they have nothing to show for a brave performance last weekend. They led 2-0 at half-time and gave as good as they got away to the defending champions in Munich, but Bayern ultimately won 5-2. Mainz is still the second bottom in the table as a result, but they'll hope to get a lift from the appointment earlier this week of their former player Bo Svensson as head coach. Svensson is the second Dane to coach in the Bundesliga and previously spent 12 years at Mainz as a player, team supervisor, assistant coach, and youth coach. Mainz have six points from the first 14 games of the season and have suffered 10 defeats - both club records for them in the Bundesliga. The new man in charge can call upon first-choice goalkeeper Robin Zentner after he recovered from a back problem, while midfielder Levin Öztunali is also available again but unlikely to start. French defender Moussa Niakhate is back from a ban and should return in central defense.
Mainz: Zentner - St. Juste, Hack, Niakhate, Mwene - Burkardt, Fernandes, Latza (c), Boetius, Brosinski - Quaison
Out: -
Doubtful: Öztunali (thigh)
Coach: Bo Svensson
Silva has been a leading light for Eintracht this season, with nine goals in 13 starts. The Portugal international didn't get on the scoresheet on Matchday 14, but both he and his team will be full of confidence after they came from behind to beat high-flying Bayer Leverkusen 2-1. Frankfurt has won each of their last two games, having gone nine outings without a victory before that. With their win over Leverkusen last time out, the Eagles collected points after falling behind in a game for the seventh time this season. Only Bayern have earned points from losing positions more often (8). Midfielder Sebastian Rode returns from suspension for the Eagles this week, so Makoto Hasebe could drop back into a three-man backline in place of Evan N'Dicka.
Frankfurt: Trapp - Hasebe, Hinteregger, Abraham (c) - Durm, Rode, Sow, Kostic - Kamada, Younes - Silva
Out: Ache (hamstring), Willems (fitness)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Adi Hütter

Silva has gone two games without scoring for the first time in 2020/21 and Mainz looks like the perfect team to break that streak. Both teams to score is the most obvious bet for Frankfurt matches.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
