Mainz will host Stuttgart for Saturday's meeting at the OPEL Arena.
Leipzig had thrashed Mainz 8-0 and 5-0 last season, so the final 3-1 defeat for 05 side had a sense of relief and newly built confidence for the next matches of the season. Leipzig took the lead after Dani Olmo was tripped by Leandro Barreiro inside the penalty area, and Forsberg scored from the spot. Mainz conceded once again when Olmo chipped a cleared free-kick back into the box, where Poulsen evaded his marker with a huge leap to head the ball over Robin Zentner, and into the far top corner. Daniel Brosinski shot was the only Mainz effort on the rival goal but they had an immediate response after the break when Robin Quaison played a through ball perfectly into the path of Jean-Philippe Mateta, who scored from the visitors' first attempt on target. Mateta was on the scoresheet for Mainz on Sunday and - added to his hat-trick in the DFB Cup win over Havelse - already has more goals than he managed over the course of his entire, injury-hit 2019/20 campaign. That result lasted just three minutes, as Forsberg battled past two 05ers defenders assist Haidara who restored the two-goal advantage for the final 3-1 result. For the remainder of the game, Leipzig stayed in control to collect maximum points.
Niklas Tauer, 19, made his league debut for the 05ers, who have turned to their academy with the likes of Edmilson Fernandes and Dong-won Ji out injured. Mainz was the only team last season to lose their first three league games in a row.
Mainz: Zentner – Baku, St. Juste, Niakhate, Brosinski – Barreiro, Latza (c) Burkardt, Quaison, Onisiwo - Mateta
Doubtful: -
Out: Fernandes (match fitness), Ji (knee)
Coach: Achim Beierlorzer
Promoted side Stuttgart was beaten 3-2 by Freiburg in a south-west derby on Bundesliga Matchday 1. The away side soon took control of the match. Petersen, Freiburg’s top scorer netted with a superb header from a cross by Roland Sallai, who himself got on the scoresheet to double the lead with a tap-in after Petersen’s back-heel had been saved. Lucas Stuttgart struggled to created chances at the other end of the pitch but they did have two good opportunities: Silas Wamangituka had a shot cleared off the line by Heintz and Orel Mangala blazed over a goal shortly before half-time. Daniel Didavi and Massimo connected at the start of the second but after that were punished as Höler score after a back pass from Vincenzo Grifo. Stuttgart showed a reaction, Gonzalo Castro missed an open goal from the five meters, Wamangituka was denied at the back post and Klimowicz had a shot saved when one-on-one with Müller. They got their reward when Didavi’s found Sasa Kalajdzic to pull a goal back with a chip over the goalkeeper. He had four efforts on goal - more than any of his teammates. Stuttgart soon got another when Wamangituka who finished calmly in the 81st minute, but the home side were unable to force a late equalizer.
Stuttgart’s Wataru Endo, Mateo Klimowicz, Massimo, and Wamangituka all made their Bundesliga debuts in this game. Stuttgart will once again be without last season's 14-goal leading marksman Gonzalez, as well as Arsenal loanee defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, midfielder Philipp Förster, and winger Erik Thommy through injury. Stuttgart had 22 attempts on goal and only defending champions Bayern Munich, who thrashed Schalke 8-0, fired off more in the first week of the season.
Stuttgart: Kobel - Anton, Kaminski, Kempf - Massimo, Endo, Mangala, Wamangituka - Castro (c), Didavi - Kalajdzic
Doubtful: -
Out: Förster (calf), Gonzalez (thigh), Mavropanos (muscular), Thommy (elbow)
Coach: Pellegrino Matarazzo

Both teams try to play attractive football that favors their talented and creative players in the final third so both teams to score seem to be a more than reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
