Man City host Chelsea at the Etihad (Manchester) in the 35th round of the Premier and the match kicks off at 5.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, May 8. Read our reasons for Man City vs Chelsea prediction and betting tips.
This is a dress rehearsal for the Champions League Final but it's all about the Premier League this weekend as Man City look to wrap up the title with a win over Chelsea. Both teams head into the weekend on a high after hugely impressive wins in their Euro semi-finals as City swept aside PSG and the Blues battered Real Madrid. Fans are now looking forward to the final later this month but both teams have a domestic business to take care of first, with City just one win away from sealing the title. The points though arguably matter more to Chelsea as they bid to guarantee a place in next term's Champions League by holding off Liverpool, West Ham and Tottenham to finish fourth.
Man City lost their grip over English football last season when Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool won the trophy. The Reds claimed the title at a canter but could not continue their form this season and failed to land a blow on the Cityzens. Man City have been consistent throughout the season, and when they do pick up the most famous piece of silverware in British football, it will be nothing short of what they deserve. They are top of the league in the closing stages with a massive lead over Man Utd in second and the rest of the chasing pack.
The home team did suffer a shock 2-1 loss at this venue when hosting Leeds United last month. The Elland Road club scored one of the shock results of the season with a double from Dallas enough to see them snatch the three points. Since that defeat, Man City have knocked Borussia Dortmund out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage, lost 1-0 to Chelsea in the FA Cup semis then beat Aston Villa in the league, Spurs to win the EFL Cup and PSG in the Champions League. It has been a dramatic few weeks for fans.
As for Chelsea, the Blues sacked Frank Lampard earlier in the season following a poor run of form, replacing the former blues and England midfielder with Thomas Tuchel. The new boss has already impacted Stamford Bridge, dragging his side to the final of the FA Cup, the final stage of the Champions League, and into the top four of the Premier League. 2020 finished in disappointment, but 2021 has given Chelsea fans much more to shout about.
With a five points advantage over the Spurs in fifth, it looks like Chelsea will hold off competition from their city rivals and finish in the top four. There’s still work to do on that front, but they are finishing strongly and looking likely to get themselves over the line. The visitors have won each of their last two league games, beating West Ham United 1-0 in East London before downing Fulham 2-0 at Stamford Bridge last weekend. Confidence is high in the away dressing room.

Man City meet Chelsea winning seven games to Chelsea’s four in their last eleven outings – none of those matches finished level. Chelsea have lost their last three away league games against Man City by an aggregate score of 9-1. Their last win at the Etihad was in December 2016 under Antonio Conte (3-1).
Victory for Man City would see them win the Premier League title for the fifth time, with only Man Utd (13) winning the trophy more since its foundation in 1992. They will also fancy their chances to avenge the Fa Cup semis loss that ended Pep Guardiola's hopes of an unprecedented Quadruple.
