Man City host PSG at the Etihad Stadium (Manchester) in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Tuesday, May 4. Read our reasons for Man City vs PSG prediction and betting tips.
PSG aim to overturn the 2-1 tie deficit from the first leg and move on into the final of the Champions League. Parisians progressed from their last Champions League knockout tie when losing the first leg, recovering a 2-1 first-leg deficit against Dortmund in last season’s last 16. However, in their European history, the French side have never progressed after losing the first leg of a knockout tie at home. On the other hand, Man City showed great quality and composure to come from behind and beat PSG 2-1 in Paris and are fancied to finish the job off on home turf. The Blues have suffered some frustrating disappointments in the latter stages of past Champions League campaigns but seem to have learned from those lessons.
PSG's defensive issues come to the fore in the first leg after all started so well for PSG with captain Marquinhos firing them ahead in the 15th minute. However, Pochettino’s side ran out of ideas once City got on top in the second half. Keylor Navas fluffed a cross for City's opener and then conceded an abysmal free-kick from Riyad Mahrez which made its way through the PSG wall like the players were paper. As the clock ticked on, Idrissa Gueye was shown a straight red for a naughty tackle on Ilkay Gundogan. PSG lost all composure, but that only came about because of City's excellence after the break.
Pochettino promised to go for broke in the second leg though, in an attempt to turn things around. The French aristocrats obviously have the attacking firepower to cause City problems if everything clicks. However, Cityzens just look fitter and stronger in most areas of the pitch, though, and that will make things incredibly hard. Also, Kylian Mbappé was missing for PSG’s 2-1 victory over Lens in Ligue 1 on Saturday, but coach Mauricio Pochettino is optimistic of having his star striker back for the deciding match on Tuesday.
As for Man City, they traveled to Paris looking to get the better of Neymar, Kyliann Mbappe and taking a lead back to Manchester. They ended up doing exactly that. City had to endure some strong pressure before the interval, but the Blues looked a different team in the second period, imposing themselves on the game and keeping PSG pinned back in their own half. There was a hint of good fortune about Kevin De Bruyne’s cross creeping in at the far post and Riyad Mahrez’s free-kick should not have slipped through the defensive wall.
Adding an extra layer of maturity and patience, City chose to slow things down and focus on possession. Instead of taking risks, they controlled the ball and waited for the openings. PSG have been accused of losing their heads in the second half, with some saying that's why City got back into the game. Yes, they did blow it, but only because City made them. Few would argue that City deserved their success, though, and more of the same positivity shown after the break would make it hard for PSG to get back into this tie when they visit Manchester.

Man City meet PSG unbeaten in all four previous European meetings with the Parisians (W2 D2), also winning their last home match against them in April 2016 in the second leg of that season’s CL quarter-final. PSG will need to score three at the Etihad next week. It's a manageable margin, but it's the manner in which they forfeited the last weeks’ match. If they bottled it so badly last week, what chance do PSG have now? We are not sure about their win, but they can make it interesting by getting at least one goal back.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
