Man United host Granada at the Old Trafford (Manchester) in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Thursday, April 15. Read our reasons for Man United vs Granada prediction and betting tips.
Man United will be looking to defend their two-goal lead against Granada when the two sides face each other at Old Trafford on Thursday evening. The Red Devils moved one step closer to booking their place in the Europa League semis, but they can’t afford any complacency in the return leg. The Andalusians, on the other hand, face an uphill task in the second leg and it is hard to see a way back for Granada at Old Trafford.
After a cagey start in the first leg, United led on 31 minutes at Estadio Los Carmenes when Marcus Rashford expertly brought down Victor Lindelof’s long ball and coolly finished. Bruno Fernandes doubled the lead after a late spot-kick, following a dubious penalty decision, which has surely given the Red Devils an insurmountable 2-0 lead going into the return fixture. United rarely looked like running riot in a first leg that lacked rhythm and urgency, but it is hard to see a way back for Granada at Old Trafford.
That triumph was slightly marred by five yellow cards, though, with Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay now missing this match. It means that Solskjer will have to make at least a trio of changes, with a number of squad players set for the opportunity to make a lasting impact. The Brazilian Alex Telles will deputy Luke Shaw, the academy graduate Axel Tuanzebe looks set for a rare opportunity as Eric Bailly is still sidelined with Covid, and finally, in midfield, Donny van de Beek could finally be given extended minutes in place of the suspended McTominay.
As for Granada, they received a welcome La Liga boost when prevailing 2-1 at Valladolid on Sunday. Evergreen 38-year-old striker Jorge Molina now has a dozen goals this season after netting in that match, having sat out the Red Devils clash. Manager Diego Martinez felt his side deserved more from the opening leg and will urge them to live up to the club’s "eterna lucha" - eternal fight - motto at Old Trafford. Without a trio of key United’s suspended players, they may feel able to perform with more freedom now that the pressure is off them.
Granada have scored in six of seven Europa League away games this term, backing up our view that they can grab a consolation strike here. On the other hand, for a club that started out in the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round and are playing their first European competition ever, having been promoted to La Liga just the season before, this is already a huge achievement. Granada have enjoyed a remarkable run in their first European campaign and if they exit the Europa League on Thursday, there will be lots of positives still.

Man United meet Granada having progressed from all of their 21 previous ties when they won the first away leg of the European match. The Red Devils, winners of the UEFA Europa League in 2016/17 and semi-finalists in 2019/20, are in a strong position to return to the last four of the competition. Also, currently winless in three (D2, L1), United have never been on a four-game run without a win in Europe.
