MAN CITY VS BRIGHTON MATCH ANALYSIS
City are fifth in the table and have two games in hand on leaders Liverpool and if they win them Pep Guardiola's side could go top of the Premier League. They come into Wednesday's match on the back of two big away wins – against Chelsea in the league (1-3) and Man Utd in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup (2-0). As for the visitors, Albion sit 17th in the Premier League, with 14 points from 17 games. They have drawn five of their last eight games (L3) and most recently salvaged a point at home against the Wolves. Both teams have their respective FA Cup matches on Sunday and will hope they return to the Premier League unscathed injuries wise.
Man City have endured a slow start to the season but have found consistency as of late. Centre-back Ruben Dias has proved to be a good acquisition, while manager Pep Guardiola will hope that veteran striker Sergio Aguero remains fit for the remainder of the season. It's unclear whether this game will even go ahead, but if it does then Pep Guardiola's players will have fresh legs heading to this match. A total of six City players were unable to play in their 3-1 win over Chelsea on January 3 following positive tests and it remains to be seen how much they will be affected for Brighton.
As for their most recent league game, Man City produced a ruthless attacking display to cruise past Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and increase the pressure on manager Frank Lampard. The visitors, who were without a number of first-team players following an outbreak of coronavirus at the club, stunned Chelsea with three goals from Gundogan, Foden, and De Bruyne in 16 first-half minutes. No side have conceded fewer league goals this season than City's 13, but this scintillating display proves Pep Guardiola's side have not lost any of their attacking prowess.
Brighton, on the other hand, are still hovering just above the relegation line, three points from the bottom-three after they shared the points with Wolves on January 2. In fairness, it could be said that their disappointing results in this campaign have not been a true reflection of their performances. But after losing the lead twice against the Hammers last weekend, a defeat against Arsenal (0-1), and the gutsy draw with Wolves, Potter's men must regroup before visiting Man City.
Against Wolves, Lewis Dunk's header helped Brighton come from 3-1 down at half-time to earn a point against Wolves in an eventful Premier League encounter at the Amex Stadium. The draw leaves the Seagulls only three points above the relegation zone, but the manner of the fightback will have heartened the fans who have seen their side win only once in 15 league games. However, this spirited comeback does not mask Brighton's issues. They still play football which is easy on the eye, but they have often lack cutting edge in attack and lately, Potter's team selection has been questionable.

Man City have won all six of their PL matches against Brighton, scoring 20 goals and conceding just twice, while Brighton have never won an away league game against Man City in 10 previous attempts (D2 L8), losing their last six visits in a row between 1983 and 2019.
Pep Guardiola’s side are building some impressive momentum that means they cannot be discounted after a third straight win that was achieved despite missing a number of players due to Covid-19.
On the other hand, Brighton’s performance against Wolves improved after the break as they showed refreshing vigor and lifted a little of the pressure gathering around their manager, Graham Potter.
BettingKick’s prediction for the Man City vs Brighton match is: Man City win
