Manchester United and FC Kopenhagen meet in the quarterfinal game of the Europa League in Cologne, Germany at the Rhein Energie Stadion.
Both teams have reasons to believe that they deserve a place in the next round of the competition after defeating LASK and Istanbul Basaksehir in the previous round. They are teams from different countries but they know each other very well. Both managers are from Norway, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer completed his coaching badges with his former international team-mate, Stale Solbakken.
United played with almost B team their second leg with LASK and most of the footballers involved in this game didn't show enough quality to impress Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or the public in their worth. Manchester won 2-1 in the second game against the Austrian team, 7-1 overall, but the style of football and performance was far from expected with many things that should be on a much better level if they are willing to lift the trophy at the end of the August.
United are qualified for next season in the Champions League, so that kind of pressure should not be a factor at this moment. Stakes are high because they are now just three games from winning the cup and Solskjaer will use best starting eleven until the end of the campaign. That means that probably only Romero, Maguire, and Williams from the lineup in LASK game will be involved in the next match and the big guns like Rashford, Pogba, Martial, Fernades, and others will start from the first minute. In that case, United has great attacking potential and from what we saw after restarting in the Premier League, it is easy to predict that Manchester should be more creative and dangerous. The connection from midfielders to attackers is outstanding, Fernandes and Pogba are very keen to find open space with through balls for teammates and use the speed from Greenwood, Martial, and Rashford to make problems to rivals.
United has scored in 20 straight competitive matches, reaching the net two times or more in 75% of those and that shows how much Red Devils improved from the start of the season. Jones, Tuanzebe, and Shaw are out with injuries for this match.
FC Copenhagen was probably the most impressive team in the last round of the Europa League. There were fireworks in the Danish capital after an impressive 3-0 win against Turkish champions Istanbul Basaksehir at Telia Parken. Trailing 1-0 heading into the second leg, they started to pressure guests from the first minute and Jonas Wind scored an opener after just four minutes to boost their confidence for the remainder of the match. He then added a second just eight minutes into the second half after the penalty and Rasmus Falk grabbed his man of the match award just after the hour-mark because he scored the third goal for the hosts after a curling effort from more than 20-yards. Falk was ever-present on every inch of the pitch from the start, he switched to ball to Varela who got an assist for the first goal and was just too quick and creative for Basaksehir players to stop him.
The most impressive thing about Copenhagen was their level of fitness at this moment and how they easily got the ball from rivals. On the other side, they controlled it almost perfectly in the middle of the pitch with players like Zeca or Daramy in the second half who soaked pressure easily and switched from defense to offense in few seconds to open space for counterattacks. Copenhagen coach Solbakken proved his experience and worth, tactically totally outclassed his rival Buruk who looked devastated beside the pitch. They have been without the injured Nicolaj Thomsen, Ragnar Sigurdsson, and Viktor Fischer in recent weeks, and their best striker and club legend Dame N’Doye departed on a free transfer last week.

FC Copenhagen coach spent nearly a year in Cologne while managing FC Koln so he can feel as at home but players will decide which team is better. Manchester must be the favorite to win this game, but it will not be so easy because Copenhagen has nothing to lose and has quality players to attack United defense. Both teams to score and over 2,5 goals are best bets for this encounter.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
