Manchester United host Manchester City at Old Trafford (Manchester) in the League Cup semi-final and the match kicks off at 7.45 pm (UK) on Wednesday, January 6.
MAN UTD VS MAN CITY MATCH ANALYSIS
This League Cup semi-final is set for Wednesday, as Man City seeks a fourth-straight crown. They’ll need to win a Manchester derby at Old Trafford to do it, meaning that either Man City or Man Utd will go to the League Cup Final to face a London side.
Man Utd's incredible away form continued in the Quarter-Finals, as the Reds saw off Everton at Goodison Park to reach the last four. Having already seen off Luton Town and Brighton and Hove Albion in earlier rounds, United have now scored eight goals and conceded zero on their road to Wembley so far. Man City, on the other hand, have made this competition their own in recent years, and breezed past Arsenal in the last round to set up the big Semi-Final clash with United. AFC Bournemouth and Burnley have also been knocked out by the holders in 2020/21, and with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and last season's Alan Hardaker Trophy winner Phil Foden at their disposal, Guardiola's side may take some stopping.
As for their current form, Man City have kept 13 clean sheets in all competitions this season, more than any other team across Europe’s top five divisions. Yet despite that decent record, City have scored under 1.5 in each of their previous six away matches in the league. They still have to play Chelsea in the league on Sunday, which will definitely add up to Guardiola’s coronavirus woes as defender Eric Garcia has become the sixth City player to test positive for coronavirus in the meantime.

Man Utd and Man City are just the second pair of teams to meet in the League Cup Semi-Finals in consecutive seasons.
The hosts are unbeaten in their last three games against Man City in all competitions (W2 D1) without conceding a goal. They haven’t gone four without defeat against their rivals since February 2011.
The Citizens are looking to become just the second side to reach four consecutive League Cup finals, after Liverpool who did so between 1981 and 1984.
