Mexico and South Korea look like the teams that should feature in every World Cup, so their friendly game on Saturday could be good and entertaining for football fans.
The last time the two teams met was at the WC two years ago in Russia. Mexico won 2-1 thanks to a goal in each half, Carlos Vela in the first and Javier Hernandez in the second. Son Heung-Min scored a late consolation, but it was not enough to make an impact. Guillermo Ochoa made some crucial saves to help El Tri secure a hard-earned victory.
Mexico played three matches in 2020 so far, with all three held in October. They recorded two consecutive victories against Guatemala and the Netherlands, but the most recent with Algeria finished in a 2-2 draw. El Tri is unbeaten in eight consecutive meetings, winning all but one and lost just a single match of their previous twenty clashes.
Alan Pulido will miss out owing to quarantine restrictions. He had recently injured his MCL as well. Other injuries in the squad include captain Guardado as well as Erick Gutierrez. Javier Hernandez and Jose Juan Macias are also absent. Hirving Lozano will return in a Mexico shirt for the first time in a year and veteran goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has been called up as well.
Mexico: Guillermo Ochoa, Jorge Sanchez, Nestor Araujo, Luis Romo, Hector Moreno, Jesus Gallardo, Jesus Corona, Hector Herrera, Jonathan dos Santos, Hirving Lozano, Raul Jimenez
South Korea is a powerhouse in Asia but they are trying to make a proper impact on the international level. So many Koreans are playing outside their country and that experience should help them to make a leap they want and be as important as 20 years ago when they played great football as hosts of the WC with Japan. Portuguese coach Paulo Bento was appointed as the new manager of the national team one month following the conclusion of the tournament in Russia but results are far from great. The team only managed to advance as far as the quarter-finals at the 2019 Asian Cup last year, where they bowed out to eventual champions Qatar.
South Korea is yet to go out on the field in 2020, with its latest game dating to December 2019, when winning with a slender 1:0 against Japan. They are on a run of three consecutive victories and lost only two of their last twenty matches.
As for South Korea, in-form Spurs man Son Heung-Min will lead the line alongside Hwang Hee-chan. Kwon Chang-Hoon of Freiburg and Lee Jae-Sung of Holstein Kiel will be available for the Mexico match but won't play against Qatar a few days later due to coronavirus restrictions in Germany. Kim Jin-Su recently tested positive for Covid-19. Hong Chul is out with a knee injury. Kim Min-Jae was not allowed to leave by his club Beijing Guoan over reservations about the pandemic. Lee Yong and Kim Young-Gwon will also miss out.
South Korea: Gu Sungyun, Kim Taehwan, Kim Moonhwan, Park Jisu, Jong-Gyu Yoon, Son Junho, Nam Tae-hee, Hwang Inbeom, Lee Kang-In, Hwang Hee-chan, Son Heung-Min

Both teams are ready to play some good, attacking football and to try to build chemistry and momentum for the upcoming competitive matches with higher stakes. Recent history and style of play suggest that both teams to score is more than a reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
