MIDDLESBROUGH VS SWANSEA MATCH ANALYSIS
After two goalless away draws in a row before the international break, Boro lost to Norwich (0-1) and won against the struggling Derby (3-0). At the weekend, they were defeated away at Huddersfield (3-2), which means they are heading into the Swansea match still sitting at the right end of the table in 10th place with 21 points. They were undefeated in 10 matches (W4-D6), and now they have two defeats in their last three games (W1). As for Swansea, they have accumulated 26 points from their first 14 league fixtures which have been enough for the 4th place in the standings. They lost just twice this season - to Huddersfield at home (1-2) in the 5th round and at Norwich (1:0) before the break – but have bounced back when they returned, with a win against Rotherham at home (2-1) and a disappointing 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wed, also at home. However, they recorded their third away win at Nottingham at the weekend (0-1), and are heading into this match on a more positive note.
Boro has already played against some of the best teams in the league at the early stage of this campaign, so they will be well-equipped to face another promotion candidate on Saturday. Manager Neil Warnock will be pleased that his side is now starting to play the way he wishes them to - hard to break down and ruthless in front of goal. They have been impressive defensively of late, with the team eyeing their seventh clean sheet in nine matches in the Championship.
However, against the Terriers, Boro had taken a 14th-minute lead through Marvin Johnson, before Huddersfield's Carel Eiting and Fraizer Campbell made it 2-1 before half-time. They equalized from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute, but Josh Koroma's late goal sealed a dramatic win for Huddersfield.
Boro could have sealed the game earlier, but then got punished for errors and missed opportunities as it often happens in football.
Swansea, on the other hand, have done brilliantly under Steve Cooper’s first managerial job despite limited resources and a small squad. They are where they want to be – in the play-offs contention – after picking up seven points after the international break, and A 1-0 win at the City Ground means Swansea are two points off the top of the Championship having lost only two league games this season.
The Welsh team have lost only two of their 14 league games since defeat in last season's play-offs and continue to look like a team capable of mounting another promotion push. They could have gone for more in the Notts Forest game, but have, nevertheless, held comfortably for a win. The game left Steve Cooper satisfied as his team looks like they have found their stability again and a win on Wednesday could see them into the top two should other results this week go their way.

The likes of Browne, Fletcher, and Hall remain in the recovery room for the hosts, while the Swans will be buoyed by Andre Ayew’s return from injury in the 1-0 win on Sunday.
