Milan host Lazio on Wednesday night at San Siro to finish out the calendar year as the league leaders.
Milan finally manages to stay at the top for a longer time, and this is definitely the best start to the season for them in the last ten years. The Rossoneri have achieved 9 wins, and 4 draws so far without a single defeat. Milan broke Sassuolo with the fastest goal in Serie A history from Rafael Leao, then Alexis Saelemaekers made sure despite a late Domenico Berardi free-kick. It was a record-breaking start, because Milan scored a new all-time Serie the fastest goal after 6.2 seconds, beating Paolo Poggi’s 8.2 seconds. Straight from the kick-off, Hakan Calhanoglu threaded through for Rafael Leao, whose angled drive stunned Andrea Consigli. Just as Sassuolo were pushing for an equalizer, Milan got their second with a break from a home corner. Sandro Tonali wisely got out the way of the blistering Theo Hernandez run and pull-back for Saelemaekers to tap in. There was a tense finale in Reggio Emilia, as Berardi’s free-kick from the edge of the box took a deflection off Hauge to wrong-foot Donnarumma. Sassuolo poured forward to the end, but Milan held on to the win and their one-point lead at the top of the table.
The hosts are still without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is ruled out until January with a calf problem. Matteo Gabbia (knee) and Ismael Bennacer (thigh) are also injured. Manager Stefano Pioli will be gladdened by the return to full fitness of Simon Kjaer. The Denmark international is expected to slot straight into the heart of the defense. There are no suspension worries for the hosts.
Milan (4-2-3-1): Gigi Donnarumma; Theo Hernandez, Alessio Romagnoli, Simon Kjaer, David Calabria; Franck Kessie, Sandro Tonali; Hakhan Calhanoglu, Brahim Diaz, Samu Castilejo; Rafael Leao
Lazio took advantage of the absence of a couple of important Napoli players and won easier than expected at Olimpico 2-0. The team from Rome is now in 8th place, but only 3 points away from the place that leads to the Champions League. Ciro Immobile believes the win over Napoli was ‘worth more than three points’ because Lazio needed a boost ‘mentally’ more than physically. The 2-0 victory was decided by an Immobile looping header and Luis Alberto sweeping finish with the inside of the right boot. Immobile used his head to leap between center-backs and steer Adam Marusic’s cross in from 11 yards. After Pepe Reina made a couple of tricky saves against his old club, Luis Alberto struck from the edge of the area with a curling effort off the inside of the boot.
The visitors are without four players for their trip to Milan. Mohamed Fares (muscle), Lucas Leiva (muscle), Senad Lulic (discomfort), and Silvio Proto (arm) are all sidelined by injury. There are no suspension concerns for manager Simone Inzaghi.
Lazio (3-5-2): Pepe Reina; Stefan Radu, Wesley Hoedt, Luis Felipe; Adam Marusic, Luis Alberto, Gonzalo Escalente, S. Milonkovic-Savic, Manuel Lazzari; Felipe Caicedo, Ciro Immobile

There is a number of reasons to believe that both teams are more than capable to put a ball in the net rather than to defend for 90+ minutes, so both teams to score is the most reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
