2 - 1
After they earned a point in the season opener vs Bordeaux Nantes will welcome Nimes at Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau on Sunday and grab three points at home.
Derby de l'Atlantique vs Bordeaux will soon be forgotten because Nantes's performance was not so good but the team is satisfied with one point. They played against a side that got a red card early but didn't controlled the game or managed to get real chances.
Performance levels must be higher for manager Christian Gourcuff’s team if they want to be in a fight for places that guarantees involvement in the European cups. The veteran coach needs a good result in the second season at the bench of the club that finished at the 13th place in the Ligue 1 in the last season.
The good thing about Nantes is they are very reliable in defense, they conceded only one goal in the last four matches, three of which were friendlies. They have a very experienced backline but one of the most interesting and talented French goalkeepers Lafont who had his time with Fiorentina. Midfield options look great, with youngster Chirivella who came from Liverpool, Blas who was under 19 France national team with M'bappe, Brasilian Girotto who came from Chapacoense three seasons ago. In attack, there must be an improvement and lack of goals can cost them a better position in the standings.
Coulibaly, Simon, and Ndilu haven't got double figures in goals in Ligue 1 and that must change if Nantes want top table finish. Gourcuff doesn't have big problems with injuries or suspensions because sidelined players are currently far from the starting lineup but expectations are high and pressure to win this match can be the biggest problem for this squad. Petrić, Jan, Limbombe, Abeid, Touré, and Castelletto will probably miss this game.
Nimes made a great start of the season and after 4-0 win vs Brest, it is clearer why they were eager to play this game despite four members of the team had positive tests on coronavirus. The top of the table looks beautiful for the team that is more reliable to be seen on the other side of the standings but a good start could have a big impact on the remaining games in this season.
It is quite sure that Nimes will be far from the top in May because this side was nearly relegated in the last season. They played great football on both sides of the pitch vs Brest and they deserved high praises after a huge victory. It was difficult to choose one man of the match because that was a marvelous display of footballing skills of two players, the newcomer from Rosenborg left-back Birger Meling who scored in 31st minute and assisted for the first goal by Kevin Dankey in 8th and Romain Philippoteaux who assisted for Meling's goal and scored in 69th minute. Kone finished the story with the goal in the 84th minute and that shows how Nimes were eager to play good football from start until the end of the game. It will be interesting to see if the same match tactic team will try to use although they are playing away.
For years Nimes is known as a team that earns most of their points in home games and their manager Jérôme Arpinon will try to change that in the new season. He can't count on Clément Depres. Anthony Briancon and Nolan Roux will probably be out because of positive tests on the coronavirus but that could change before the start of the game.

It could be a very low scoring game with maybe just one that separates the teams. Under 2,5 goals is our preferable bet and maybe correct score will be 1-0.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
