Napoli and Gennaro Gattuso are reportedly destined to part ways this summer. Italian media reported the recent weeks' rumors regarding the former Milan coach’s position at the Partenopei and the very openly manifested ‘disappointment’ that will lead to a split in June. Gattuso picked up the Coppa Italia last season but has struggled to keep up with League leaders Milan in Serie A. With Napoli currently fifth in the League and with a nine-point gap up to the top, pressure increased for Gattuso. Reports of contact between President Aurelio De Laurentiis and former coach Rafael Benitez recently freed from his contractual ties with Dalian, sparked rumors of an early departure for Gattuso this winter. After the 2-0 win against Parma, Gattuso manifested his disappointment with De Laurentiis and highlighted that he has 'correctly' rejected any proposals coming his way. The media stated the current icy front between the two will not ease anytime soon and reports that Gattuso will leave Napoli after the current campaign.
Dries Mertens has returned to his homeland for treatment on an ankle injury. The 33-year-old limped off during the defeat at Inter Milan last month with a sprained left ankle and has struggled for fitness since. Midfielder Fabian Ruiz has been out of action with COVID-19, and that completes the injured and suspended list for Gennaro Gattuso. He is expected to name the strongest XI - with battles for a place in the lineup between Andrea Petagna and Victor Osimhen upfront and goalkeepers Alex Meret and David Ospina.

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini said the team didn’t let him down in the 3-1 defeat to Lazio on Sunday. Lazio gained revenge for their Coppa Italia defeat and celebrated loudly after the final whistle, inflicting La Dea’s first Serie A loss in 2021. And Gasperini pointed at his men conceding ‘some foolish goals’ when he explained the defeat. “The opening goal allowed Lazio to be able to play their best and efficiently,” Gasperini told media. “I didn’t see a bad performance from my players, unfortunately, we conceded some foolish goals. It’s one of those games where some episodes led to success for the visitors. Overall, I didn’t mind Atalanta’s performance.”
The defeat comes only days after the 3-2 win in the Coppa Italia, on the same ground against the same opponents. “Last Wednesday, the 10 of us managed to score goals by closing down at the back and not conceding anything. We had to recover, we created. We believed in it, also because we had more energy than Lazio. We also rotated players, on Wednesday, we have an important game. Too bad for the third goal because we had straightened it out.”
Gian Piero Gasperini has a defensive headache, Jose Luis Palomino is suspended following his dismissal in the quarter-final and Cristian Romero tested positive for COVID-19 late last week. Bosko Sutalo is also in doubt, so Mattia Caldara could complete the back three with Rafael Toloi and Berat Djimsiti. Wing-back Hans Hateboer remains a concern, so new signing Joakim Maehle could continue on the right, while key attacking threat Robin Gosens will be back after serving a suspension in Serie A.
Atalanta: Gollini; Toloi, Caldara, Djimsiti; Maehle, De Roon, Freuler, Gosens; Pessina, Ilicic; Muriel

Napoli played extremely well in the league against Atalanta and had a 4-0 advantage at the HT. Bergamasci scored a consolation goal in the second half and this could happen once again. Both teams to score looks like a most reasonable betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
