Napoli continues the search for a place in the Champions League, but this weekend Inter arrives on a Scudetto mission. Read our reasons for Napoli vs Inter prediction and betting tips.
Napoli has been in great form too in recent weeks, but a loss to Juventus on April 7 means the Partenopei sit two points behind Atalanta in the race for the top four. The 2-1 defeat to the Bianconeri in the only defeat in eight Serie A games, and Guttuso’s men hope to avoid another setback against the League leaders. Napoli forward Matteo Politano seems set to play against his former club Inter on Sunday, as Gennaro Gattuso must cope without Hirving Lozano. The Partenopei have resumed training after two and a half days of rest, but the media highlighted the Mexican attacker is suspended for the game against the Nerazzurri. Coach Gattuso is expected to start Politano on the flank and the former Inter man will be eager to prove Antonio Conte wrong this weekend.
The 27-year-old has scored eight goals in 29 Serie A appearances and moved to Napoli in January 2020, has struggled to carve out space in Conte’s line-up at San Siro. The report also claimed Elseid Hysaj could replace Mario Rui at left-back, whilst Gattuso must choose between Victor Osimhen and Dries Mertens upfront. Napoli chases a place in the top four this season and arrives from a run of five wins in their last six Serie A games. The one setback came against direct rivals Juventus, who sit three points above the Azzurri and a win against Inter would boost their confidence ahead of the run-in.
Napoli (4-2-3-1): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Koulibaly, Manolas, Hysaj; Fabian Ruiz, Demme; Politano, Zielinski, Insigne; Mertens
Suspended: Lozano
Injured: Ghoulam, Ospina
The Nerazzurri have an 11-point gap down to Milan at second in Serie A and are on a run of 11 consecutive wins in the competition. Antonio Conte was delighted with Inter’s 1-0 win over Cagliari and said he could throw himself into the fire for his players. “There are fewer games now, and every win is worth six points,” Conte told the media after the Nerazzurri's win over the Sardinians. “Milan beat Parma and it was essential to win this game to leave the gap between them and us unaltered. Many of my players have never experienced such pressure and I am really satisfied with what they are doing. We have improved so much over the last two seasons. I like winning too much and that’s what I want to transmit to my players,” he continued. I don’t want to stop and count how many games are remaining [to win the title]. The job is not done yet. We won three crucial games in eight days, but we have eight more matches ahead. We are proving to be a stable and balanced team. We collected 81 points last term and played a Europa League Final. Juventus dominated the last decade, and in just one year and a half, we've been able to change the values. What my players are doing would deserve more consideration, but I keep reading about our performances in Europe."
Some Inter players continued to train even after the game. “This says a lot about this group. The lads don’t want to give anything for granted. I gave them a day off, but they train anyway. Now they deserve to rest and me too.” The coach massively celebrated Matteo Darmian’s winner and even kissed Achraf Hakimi, who had provided the assist. I don’t consider myself their older brother, but I do sometimes kiss my players on their heads. They know I am ready to throw myself into the fire for them. Hakimi deserved it and so Darmian.”
Inter (3-5-2): Handanovic; Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni; Hakimi, Barella, Brozovic, Eriksen, Darmian; Lukaku, Lautaro
Suspended: none
Injured: Kolarov, Vidal

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
