High-flying Napoli will be aiming to stay in the Scudetto race when they welcome Sampdoria at their Stadio Diego Maradona on Sunday.
Napoli’s first game at the renamed Stadio Diego Armando Maradona was against Real Sociedad in Europa League on Thursday, which finished in a 1-1 stalemate. They are unbeaten in five consecutive matches, recording three victories and two draws in the process. Napoli ran riot at the Stadio Scida with another 4-0 victory, including great goals from Lorenzo Insigne and Andrea Petagna. The Partenopei broke through in Crotone with a classic Insigne right-foot curler into the top corner, then provided the assist for Chucky Lozano. The hosts crumbled with Jacopo Petriccione’s straight red card for a tackle over the ball on Diego Demme. Dries Mertens came off the bench and created two goals for Demme and Petagna.
Home coach Gennaro Gattuso will still be without Elseid Hysaj and Amir Rrahmani, who tested negative for COVID-19 but will need time to earn a place on the pitch. Striker Victor Osimhen's condition is to be assessed ahead of kickoff, but the former Lille man is still struggling with a lingering shoulder injury and is unlikely to return by Sunday. French full-back Kevin Malcuit is also unavailable due to a knee problem, while goalkeeper Alex Meret is a minor doubt - David Ospina stands by to continue between the posts.
Napoli (4-2-3-1): David Ospina (GK); Faouzi Ghoulam, Kalidou Koulibaly, Konstantinos Manolas, Giovanni Di Lorenzo; Diego Demme, Tiemoue Bakayoko; Hirving Lozano, Dries Mertens, Matteo Politano; Andrea Petagna
Sampdoria lost to Milan at home last weekend. They are without a win in six straight meetings, managing two draws and allowing four defeats in the process. Samp has managed to score more than a goal in only one of their last seven encounters. Milan was made to battle hard to beat Sampdoria 2-1, with Samu Castillejo scoring off the bench and a late scare. The Serie A leaders had to thank Gianluigi Donnarumma with his early save on Lorenzo Tonelli, then Franck Kessie converted a penalty for handball. There was a desperate goal-line clearance and Sandro Tonali clipping the upright before Castillejo secured his super-sub status by scoring with his first touch. However, Albin Ekdal flicked on a corner to put Samp back into it and came close to an equalizer in stoppages.
Sampdoria's Bartosz Bereszynski suffered a thigh strain and will miss 2020's remaining fixtures. Forward Manolo Gabbiadini was substituted due to injury last week but should be fit to participate, while Keita Balde is close to a return. Claudio Ranieri's midfield quartet could comprise veteran winger Antonio Candreva, Morten Thorsby, Albin Ekdal, and Mikkel Damsgaard, in a cautious 4-4-1-1 setup.
Sampdoria (4-4-1-1): Emil Audero (GK); Lorenzo Tonelli, Maya Yoshida, Omar Colley, Tommaso Augello; Antonio Candreva, Albin Ekdal, Morten Thorsby, Jakub Jankto; Manolo Gabbiadini, Fabio Quagliarella

Napoli has reasons for concern with a lack of consistency and Gattuso is very angry that the board didn’t pay players for a long time. On the other side, they have a good roster, big individual quality and they should win the next match.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
