Napoli and Sassuolo meet at the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday with two clubs sit second in the Serie A table with 11 points each.
Napoli has recovered the likes of Piotr Zielinski and Eljif Elmas who had tested negative for Covid-19 and made a return to the Azzurri’s squad team to face Real Sociedad earlier this week. Lorenzo Insigne may miss the Sassuolo game with a thigh injury he picked up in the first half of Napoli’s latest Europa League game. They picked up three vital points in the Europa League against Real Sociedad on Thursday, but Insigne left the pitch after 22 minutes of the 1-0 win in Spain.
After turnaround made in a Benevento 2-1 victory, Napoli got their first Europa League victory of the season thanks to a deflected Matteo Politano strike to beat Real Sociedad, but Victor Osimhen saw red. They were torn between squad rotation and need to get back on track in this competition after their shock opening 1-0 home defeat to AZ Alkmaar. Stanislav Lobotka was given a new role in the trio supporting Andrea Petagna, as the likes of Dries Mertens and Victor Osimhen were rested. After a good start, Napoli lost control of the game when Insigne picked up an injury, but the deadlock was broken by a moment of magic and luck, as Matteo Politano hit a rocket from 20 meters and it took a deflection off a defender to leave Alejandro Remiro rooted to the spot. Gennaro Gattuso was not satisfied and introduced Victor Osimhen and Dries Mertens for the final half-hour. Nigerian had the ball in the net on 86 minutes, but it was disallowed because Mario Rui slipped on the free-kick and touched it with both feet. Osimhen’s night got even worse when he was shown a second yellow card for jumping with elbow raised on Le Normand, so he’ll be suspended for the next Europa League match.
Napoli (4-2-3-1): Ospina; Di Lorenzo, Manolas, Koulibaly, Hysaj; Fabian Ruiz, Zielinski; Politano, Mertens, Lozano, Osimhen
Suspended:
Injured: Insigne
Sassuolo confirmed this week one of their players has caught Covid but the club failed to reveal his identity. Jeremy Toljan and Lukas Haraslin did also test positive for Covid a few days ago and won’t be available to play at the San Paolo. Former Roma striker Gregoire Defrel is also in doubt for the game due to an injury. Sassuolo has only won one of their 14 Serie A games against Napoli, in August 2015. They have only managed five defeats and four draws since then.
Last Friday, Francesco Caputo saved a point for Sassuolo, who threatened to turn another game around at the death, but Torino held on to draw 3-3 in a thriller finish to a foggy affair at the Mapei Stadium.
Four goals in nine minutes made for a dramatic ending to Friday night’s match in Sassuolo, as the home side bounced back from going down 1-3 in the 79th minute. Torino broke the deadlock when Linetty tapped in a Vojvoda cross, as Verdi fell over and the former Sampdoria midfielder could tap in from six yards after 32 minutes. But it was Djuricic who made it even in Emilia-Romagna, with a back-heel. Vlad Chiriches then tried to clear a long ball but couldn’t get it further than on Belotti’s chest, Consigli couldn’t stop the proven goalscorer. Torino was up 3-1 within minutes after taking the lead, Lukić was a scorer after a quick counterattack. But Sassuolo responded it was Chiriches who fired a missile from long-range and a goal of the season candidate! Francesco Caputo equalized with a header from six yards. Sassuolo is still unbeaten after five Serie A games in 2020-21.
Sassuolo (4-2-3-1): Consigli; Muldur, Chiriches, Ferrari, Kyriakopulos; Locatelli, Obiang; Berardi, Traore, Raspadori; Caputo
Suspended:
Injured: Romagna, Harsalin, Toljan, Defrel

Both teams are more than capable to score and there are few reasons to believe that this will be consistent through the season so both teams to score in this match is the most reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
