Napoli goes into the final weekend knowing a win would be enough to secure a Champions League spot against stuttering Verona. Read our Napoli vs Verona prediction and betting tips.
Gennaro Gattuso is widely expected to walk away from this summer, regardless of the result, so the mood may well be mixed at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis warned their players: ‘It’s not over,’ after a 2-0 win against Fiorentina. Gennaro Gattuso’s side beat the Tuscans 2-0 at the Artemio Franchi and leapfrogged Juventus in fourth place. The Azzurri are one point clear of the Bianconeri with one game remaining. Juventus will play away at Bologna in the last game of the season, while Napoli faces Hellas Verona at the Stadio Maradona. Napoli’s press silence continues and President Aurelio De Laurentiis was the only one to comment on the Franchi clash. “A great win, but we must remain focused as it is not over yet, always Forza Napoli,” the Azzurri President wrote on Twitter.
Napoli got the victory they need to stay in the top four, as Lorenzo Insigne hits the woodwork twice, has a penalty saved, and scored on the rebound, before a deflected Piotr Zielinski strike. The Partenopei knew only a win would keep them ahead of Juventus going into the final round of the season. It took a while to break the Viola down, as Insigne cracked a free-kick against the crossbar, and even saw his spot-kick parried by Pietro Terracciano, but turned in the rebound. Insigne thumped the upright too before Zielinski was fortunate to see his wayward shot deflected in by Lorenzo Venuti.

Ivan Juric’s assistant Matteo Paro warned Hellas Verona ‘will create trouble for Napoli’ in the last game of the season. The former midfielder was on the sidelines to replace the suspended Juric in their game against Bologna that ended in a 2-2 stalemate. “We conceded two strange goals with deflected shots,” Paro said at a press conference. “We created many goal-scoring opportunities, the lads wanted to win so badly. We couldn’t manage to do so, but they must be happy. To finish in tenth place is worth as much as a Scudetto to us.”
The Gialloblu travel to the Stadio Maradona on Sunday to face a Napoli side involved in the race to qualify for the Champions League. A win would allow the Azzurri to snatch a top-four finish. “We’ll play our game, we’ll try to create trouble for Napoli,” Paro said. “We know they are a strong team, right now even more. They play good football and have a target to reach, but we have our goals too.” Juric has been critical of Verona’s directors of late, does Paro expect him to stay at Verona? “We can still improve, we’ll see. The coach will talk to the President, we are united and serene. We’ll find the best way to plan the next season," the coach concluded.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
