The wait is almost over for the International Friendlies action scheduled for Wednesday as the Netherlands take on Spain.
The Netherlands will play in this match following on from a 1-1 Nations League drawn result vs Italy. All eyes will be on Johan Cruijff Arena when Netherlands and Spain square off against each other in a friendly international on Wednesday evening. The Oranje aim to put an end to their four-game winless run in all competitions, and we are positive that they will fight tooth and nail against Spain. Kevin Strootman has been left out of the squad for the hosts, while Davy Klaasen, Tonny Vilhena and Patrick van Aanholt return to contention.
Mohamed Ihattaren is expected to make his long-awaited debut with the Dutch national team, while Virgil van Dijk remains in the recovery room. Their most recent results shine a light on the fact that there has been much resilience in the Netherlands rearguard. Oranje have been stingy, resulting in the number of goals that have flown into the back of their net during their last 6 clashes standing at 3. That kind of trend won’t necessarily be carried forward into this game, however.
Since tasting defeat last time out to Ukraine in Nations League competition, Spain and their travelling supporters will be hoping that they can get a better result in this one. La Furia Roja, aim to bounce back from a shocking 1-0 loss to Ukraine. Luis Enrique welcomes Inigo Martinez, Koke, and Morata back to the starting line-up, while Marcos Llorente could make his Spain debut against the Netherlands.
Anyhow, a close encounter is on the cards in Amsterdam, and we are tempted to put our money on a draw. A tendency of at least one side getting a clean sheet in games featuring Spain has been apparent in recent matches. Looking at their last 6 meetings shows that it’s occurred 5 times. During those clashes, opposing sides have hit a goal total of 2 while La Furia Roja have scored 11.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
