On their first home game of the season Newcastle host Brighton at St. James Park on Sunday, September 19 and the match kicks off at 3pm (UK).
The Magpies welcome Brighton after their well-deserved away win (0-2) against West Ham on the opening day of the Premier League. They also won in midweek on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup against Blackburn (1-0) and with two wins and two clean sheets in the span of four days, they will try and make it three out of three against Brighton this weekend.
Brighton should be disappointed with the result and the three goals conceded against Chelsea on their home Premier League debut, but the final score doesn't paint the whole picture, as there were many positives their manager Graham Potter could take from the defeat. It was a spirited and energetic performance and if they are more compact as a team they could take something away from the trip to Newcastle.
Newcastle are now taking legal action against the Premier League's decision to block the Saudi takeover, but meanwhile, with the start of the new campaign all the focus is back on the game. However, you can't blame the fans for being disappointed because instead of world class signings they expected, they are now left to wonder whether they can over-perform again and survive another year in top flight. Judging by the first couple of games, they can and they will.
Their summer additions are actually turning out to be smarter than initially believed. Wilson and Hendrick both scored on their debuts while Jamal Lewis was impressive at left-back. Another debutant, Ryan Fraser scored the winner against the Rovers in the Carabao Cup and it looks like they have solved one of the biggest issues from last season, which was taking their chances when presented to them.
As for the Seagulls, they are still a team on the learning curve. First game against Chelsea showed they have grown more tactically, but there are things they need to address. The performance was solid in many aspects and they matched Chelsea for long periods. And as the Premier League continues they have to learn to stay concentrated for whole 90 minutes and to cut down on errors if they want to survive in top flight.
Their biggest signing, Adam Lallana has limped off injured in his first game, which is huge blow for them, but they can take positives from the performance of summer additions Ben White who was at Leeds last year and Tariq Lamptey, former Chelsea right-back, whose crosses caused the Blues constant problems. With Dan Ashowrth, new technical director and new fantastic stadium the club looks set up, but the positivity needs to be translated onto the pitch as well.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
