Burnley
3 - 1
Newcastle host Burnley in the fourth week of the Premier League at St.James Park (Newcastle) on Saturday, October 3 and the match kicks off at 8pm (UK).
MATCH PREVIEW
Newcastle are 10th in the table with 4 points from their first three Premier League matches. They won on the opening day, away against West Ham (0-2), then lost at home to Brighton (0-3), and most recently drew against Tottenham in London (1-1). Their opponents, Burnley, are in the 18th place without a single point so far, albeit having a game in hand. They lost both of their matches so far, against Leicester away (4-2) and Southampton at home (0-1). The Magpies have a better start, but they blow hot and cold, while Burnley desperately need points to get them going.
MATCH ANALYSIS
Last weekend the Magpies rescued an injury-time point against Tottenham from the penalty spot entirely against the run of play after another controversial handball decision. And while that was the talking point after the match, it is also worth saying that the Spurs could have run away with the game, had they been more clinical by the time of the disputing equalizer. Newcastle didn't do much throughout the game and the VAR controversy had little to do with Newcastle being too cautious and creating very few chances as they failed to have a shot on target until the late drama. Another take from that game was an injury to Matt Ritchie, Necastle midfielder, who is facing a lengthy absence as he is set to have a shoulder operation. It is a blow for Steve Bruce, as Ritchie's team-mate Fabian Schar had a similar injury in July and is yet to return. The Magpies will be in the good position with another win on Saturday, but Sean Dyche's side will be unpredictable rival at the moment, with problems on and off the pitch.
Sean Dyche has rightly been praised for his leadership with a modestly assembled Clarets squad - having provided a second top-10 finish in five Premier League seasons in 2019/2020, but an already thin squad is at its limits. Dyche symbolically failed to make any changes late on in the Southampton match, and with little over a week until the transfer window closes, he will be desperate to add further signings. They have been very unfortunate with injuries and with seven senior players side-lined, the players are giving their everything. The visitors will be bolstered by the addition of Dale Stephens from Brighton, which was the first positive news after the board and the manager locked horns over summer spending and lack of transfers. They will find it very difficult to pick up any points as their squad is paper-thin, but Dyche has done wonders with the Clarets' modest squad before, so let's not write them off already.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
