Newcastle host Fulham at St.James’ Park (Newcastle) in the 14th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Saturday, December 19.
NEWCASTLE VS FULHAM MATCH ANALYSIS
After the match against Aston Villa was postponed two weeks ago due to a coronavirus outbreak, they climbed up the standings to 14th (17pts) with a 2-1 home win against West Brom on Saturday and they still remain there after a defeat at Leeds (5-2) in midweek. As for Fulham, they made a slow start to the season with eight defeats in twelve games, but with a surprising win at Leicester (1-2) in Round 10 and back-to-back draws at Craven Cottage against the defending champions Liverpool (1-1) and Brighton (0-0) they have escaped the drop zone as they climbed one place to 17th place with 9 points ahead of the trip to Newcastle.
Newcastle took a couple of steps back after consecutive 2-0 defeats to the Saints and Chelsea in rounds 8 and 9 as they lost the defensive solidity which had been a key facet of Newcastle's previous two Premier League campaigns. So they were glad to find that formula again in their win against the Eagles (0-2) before their postponed fixture against Villa. After a week’s rest, they continued where they left and registered their first back-to-back win of this campaign against struggling West Brom (2-1). However, the Magpies went back to the losing ways as they shipped five at Leeds on Wednesday.
Newcastle were in the game at 2-2 until the 77th minute when right-back Stuart Dallas converted Mateusz Klich's ball from the left. In searching for an equaliser, the visitors ditched their counter-attacking tactics, and went all-in, only to concede twice more in the last 5 minutes at Elland Road. Steve Bruce's side’s knack of looking beaten but still managing to get the result have worked in their favour on several occasions this season, but this was not one of those instances.
As for Fulham, the last season's play-off winners in the Championship were exposed in the first thirteen matches for all their shortcomings and weaknesses, and they will have to raise their game significantly if they want to avoid the drop. The Cottagers have made their worst ever start in a top-flight after the first six games (D1 L5), but with a win in round 7 (2-0 against West Brom), they had avoided their worst run of games ever. Since then, they have picked up three more defeats, one win, and two draws in their next six fixtures (W2, D3 L8 in total).
On Wednesday, Fulham moved out of the Premier League's bottom three on goal difference after earning a point in a goalless draw with Brighton at Craven Cottage. Both sides had chances to take all three points in a much livelier second half, But neither side could force a winner. After hard-earned four points from three difficult fixtures against Leicester, Man City and Liverpool Fulham here lost the opportunity to not only exit the bottom three but also pull Brighton into trouble.

From their 20 meetings since 2005, Fulham have a better record of 11 wins to Newcastle's six in this period. However, the Magpies have convincingly won this fixture at Craven Cottage last season (4-0) after a goalless draw at home.
There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Newcastle's last 9 home games, while the Magpies have also scored at least 2 goals in their last 3 PL matches. Newcastle now have three days to recover, but the physical toll that game would have on the squad cannot be underestimated as the squad continues to recover from an outbreak of COVID-19 at the club.
Fulham are unbeaten in three of their last four PL matches and look a completely different side to the one that started the campaign. They do not have a fantastic record against Newcastle but do have a real opportunity to change that on Saturday night if they stop wasting good scoring chances.
BettingKick’s prediction for Newcastle vs Fulham match is: Under 2.5 goals

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
