Newcastle host West Ham at the St. James’ Park (Newcastle) in the 32nd round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 12.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, April 17. Read our reasons for Newcastle vs West Ham prediction and betting tips.
Newcastle and West Ham both enjoyed important wins last weekend and now meet at St James’ Park in a crucial game at both ends of the Premier League table. Whatever the dynamics are at Newcastle, they have worked in the last two games. A 2-1 victory at Burnley was a huge boost for Newcastle’s survival hopes while West Ham held on for a 3-2 win against fellow Champions League hopefuls Leicester, meaning the Hammers have won more than half of their league games during a superb season so far.
As for Newcastle, a run of one defeat in six games, as well as the nosediving form of Fulham, has steered Newcastle six points clear of the relegation zone. The Magpies earned a respectable 13th-place finish in his first season in charge but have slipped further down the standings in 2020/21. However, Steve Bruce has retained the backing of current majority shareholder Mike Ashley throughout the season despite the club being sucked into a relegation battle.
Newcastle had gone seven matches without a win prior to their trip to Turf Moor and that run looked set to continue when they went behind in the first half. They were outplayed for almost an hour but the game changed when Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson were brought off the bench. Top scorer Wilson had missed seven games while Saint-Maximin only returned from injury the previous week, and the attacking duo quickly showed the Magpies what they have been missing.
On the other hand, West Ham’s hopes of a top-four finish improved after a victory over Leicester, which means they are now just a point behind the third-placed Foxes. On Sunday, Jesse Lingard scored twice and Jarrod Bowen added the third before Leicester hit back through Kelechi Iheanacho’s double. However, the Hammers, who surrendered a 3-0 advantage to draw 3-3 with Arsenal in their previous home game, survived a Leicester comeback, just as they had in their match before at Wolves.
The result saw West Ham climb above both Liverpool and Chelsea into fourth place, meaning they are occupying the last Champions League qualification spot with seven games to go. There's still a little way to go before West Ham can fulfil the prophecy of one of their owners, but if Lingard - and his teammates - continue to produce such eye-catching results, there is no reason why the Hammers can't be the pride of London, in Europe, next season.

Newcastle meet West Ham looking to achieve their fifth Premier League double over West Ham something they’ve only done as many times in the competition against Spurs. The Magpies will be also encouraged by the fact that West Ham have won just two of their last 16 Premier League away games against them (D6, L8).
Moreover, Newcastle’s win against Burnley ended a run of seven games without a victory (D4, L3) while the Hammers are unbeaten in all 22 of their Premier League games against sides in the bottom half of the table (W14, D8) since David Moyes returned to the club.
