Nice and Bayer Leverkusen go head to head in what is expected to be one of the most exciting games on Thursday.
It has been an extremely disappointing campaign for Patrick Vieira's side, losing their last four games in all competitions to slide to 11th in Ligue 1 and close to exit from the UEL. Sitting six points behind Slavia Prague and their forthcoming opponents with only two matches remaining in Group C, the head-to-head ruling which separates sides level on points means that Nice will need to beat Leverkusen by four or more goals to remain in the competition after losing 6-2 to them earlier. It is not possible for Nice to finish ahead of Slavia Prague having lost both matches to them, including a 3-1 home defeat last week, Vieira hopes to reach the next round are slimmest possible.
For the clash against Leverkusen at home, manager Patrick Vieira is set to be without the services of defenders Dante and Hassane Kamara. Youcef Atal missed their last game against Dijon and is a doubt ahead of this fixture. Striker Kasper Dolberg tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-isolating. Hicham Boudaoui picked up two yellow cards in their 3-1 loss to Slavia Prague and is suspended for the game.
Nice (4-3-3): Walter Benitez; Andy Pelmard, Robson Bambu, Stanley Nsoki, Jordan Lotomba; Khephren Thuram, Morgan Schneiderlin, Jeff Reine-Adelaide; Rony Lopes, Amine Gouiri, Alexis Claude Maurice
Peter Bosz's side has had an excellent start to the campaign, winning five of their last six matches in the Bundesliga and retaining their unbeaten domestic record to move up to third in the table. The 1-0 loss at Slavia Prague, when Karim Bellarabi was sent off after only 22 minutes, is the only defeat on Leverkusen's journey through this campaign, with qualification to the knockout stages of the Europa League all but secured with last week's 4-1 win over Israeli side Beer Sheva. Patrik Schick scored on his first start since late September due to injury, with Leon Bailey, Kerem Demirbay, and Lucas Alario adding gloss to the comprehensive victory. They played some good football at the weekend in a goalless draw vs Hertha with both teams had their good chances to score.
Bayer Leverkusen has been hit with an injury crisis this season. Lucas Alario (knee injury), Karim Bellarabi (thigh), Nadiem Amiri (illness), Sven Bender (ankle), Exequiel Palacios (back), Charles Aranguiz (muscle), Santiago Arias (ankle), and Paulinho (ACL) are all out injured. Edmond Tapsoba is in self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19. Patrik Schick is back in the fold after a lengthy injury layoff and is expected the lead the line on Thursday.
Bayer Leverkusen (4-3-3): Lukas Hradecky; Daley Sinkgraven, Tin Jedvaj, Jonathan Tah, Lars Bender; Julian Baumgartlinger, Wendell, Kerem Demirbay; Leon Bailey, Patrik Schick, Moussa Diaby

Nice has nothing to lose and will surely try to win and get some confidence before domestic matches and Leverkusen will have some open space for pacey counterattacks. Both teams to score looks like a reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
