Windsor Park in Belfast will host the UNL game between Northern Ireland and Austria on Sunday.
Northern Ireland's Euro dream is alive and kicking following a historic penalty shootout win over Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ian Baraclough's men held their composure from the spot to reach next month's play-off final. Niall McGinn canceled out Rade Krunic's early strike for the hosts as the game finished 1-1 after 120 minutes of football. Penalties from Stuart Dallas, Kyle Lafferty, Conor Washington, and Boyce captured a 4-3 win in the shootout as the Northern Ireland's only miss came when George Saville fired over, but it didn't cost them at the end. Bailey Peacock-Farrell saved Hajradinović’s attempt while Visca fired his effort onto the crossbar. It was the first time Northern Ireland had ever been involved in a penalty shootout, and it turned into a memorable one for the history books. Baraclough's side will now host Slovakia at Windsor Park on November 12 after they beat the Republic of Ireland 4-2 on penalties following a 0-0 draw in Bratislava.
They are now returning to the new UNL campaign, they did well vs Romania and held them to a 1-1 draw. They had a late equalizer from Whyte after Magennis had been sent off early in the contest, but they were really helpless in a 5-1 loss to Norway. They had to redeem themselves after that hammering, they were written off going into the BIH game, but they delivered a big performance and historic result. Northern Ireland conceded 12 goals in total in the previous three games in all competitions, and fatigue will also be an issue after a stressful game in Sarajevo. Northern Ireland will be cheered on by 600 fans who have every reason to celebrate great achievement vs Bosnia and Hercegovina.
Austria were 2-1 winners against Greece on Wednesday evening after a timely second-half double for Franco Foda's side. Two goals in three minutes from Adrian Grbic and Christoph Baumgartner overturned Greece’s Kostas Fortounis’ effort. Austria had four corners within two minutes and set the pace, Greece was focused primarily on fast counterattacks. Karim Onisiwo created the greatest chance with a long shot and Adrian Grbic had a good effort with a free-kick. Rapid striker Fountas prevailed - presumably against the rules - against Stefan Lainer, Kostas Fortounis took the long pass perfectly and didn't give Austria's keeper Pavao Pervan a chance.
Red-white-red then needed a few minutes to find the rhythm again. Adrian Grbic found his finishing touch in the Lorient shirt in the Ligue 1 and showed his good form in front of the goal after completing a perfect Gregoritsch cross under the crossbar.
Just three minutes later, Gregoritsch and Schaub combine wonderfully in front of the opposing goal. Schaub served Baumgartner, the great finish was expected and that turned out to be a goal for the final 2-1!
They have been impressive lately and looking after their fourth consecutive win over Northern Ireland in all competitions. Even though Marco Arnautovic is out of contention for the visitors, keep in mind that Austria had a winning start in Group B1 with a comfortable 2-1 victory over Norway on the road, thanks to an opening goal from Gregoritsch before Sabitzer added a second on 54 minutes from the penalty spot. Victory over Norway gave Austria real confidence, but they were unable to build on that positive start and stumbled to defeat on matchday two when going down 3-2 at home to Romania. Goals from Baumgartner and Onisiwo ensured the match was competitive but it wasn’t enough to win the points against a determined Romanian side who are now on the top of the group.

Austria must be the favorite to win this game because Northern Ireland lost much stamina and must be empty after Bosnia and Hercegovina game. The away win is the most reasonable option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
