All eyes will be on Windsor Park when Northern Ireland and Slovakia square off against each other in the Euro 2021 playoffs final.
Northern Ireland did well to shock Bosnia and Herzegovina in the semis, and, no doubt, they are high on confidence ahead of the decider. Leicester City defender Jonny Evans should start after overcoming his injury, while Motherwell goalkeeper Trevor Carson is out of contention through injury. Northern Ireland come into this game on the back of a 1-0 loss to Norway last month in the UEFA Nations League. An own goal from Leeds United full-back Stuart Dallas in the second half was enough to secure the win for the Norwegians. Both Joel Cooper and Jordan Jones have been left out of the squad, with Galbraith and Kennedy stepping up.
Northern Ireland have found it difficult to unlock defenses in more recent games. Their ‘goals for’ figure stands at just 4 against opponents during the course of their previous six fixtures. In those meetings, Green and White Army have also seen the tally of goals that have gone against them total 15. That kind of pattern won’t necessarily follow through into this match, of course.
The Slovaks, on the other hand, defeated Ireland on penalties in the playoffs semis and seeing that they are likely to adopt a defense-minded approach in the decider, a low-scoring affair is on the cards. As always, a man to keep an eye on in the away team will be former Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik, who has netted 26 goals in 123 appearances for the Slovakia national team.
Slovakia, on the other hand, lost 3-2 to Israel last month in the UEFA Nations League. A hat-trick from PSV Eindhoven attacker Eran Zahavi sealed the win for Israel, with Dalian Pro midfielder Marek Hamsik and Ferencvaros winger Robert Mak scoring the consolation goals for Slovakia. Pavel Hapal's Slovakia have fired home a total of 6 times in the course of their latest six matches. The overall goals that have been scored against them during the equivalent period comes to 8.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
