Norwich host Bournemouth at the Carrow Road (Norwich) in the 42nd round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Saturday, April 17. Read our reasons for Norwich vs Bournemouth prediction and betting tips.
Norwich extended their unbeaten run to 13 matches and maintained that crucial 17-point gap to third-placed Brentford after their latest 1-0 Championship win at Derby. The Canaries also kept their 18th clean sheet of the campaign, eight of which have been during the current hot streak which has teed up an almost certain promotion success. On the other hand, Tuesday’s 2-1 success at Huddersfield was the Dorset club’s fifth Championship success in a row and saw them move up to the fifth spot in the league table. The win also saw Woodgate record more victories in his time at Bournemouth than in his 41-game reign at the helm in his previous job at Middlesbrough.
Norwich are very much enjoying life at the other end of the Championship table. The Canaries are top and on the verge of securing an immediate return to the Premier League. However, Norwich boss Daniel Farke praised Derby for making it tough for his leaders, who are 19 places and 47 points better off than the Rams and who had dismantled Huddersfield Town 7-0 a few days earlier. Nevertheless, this was a 14th away success of the campaign for the Canaries, moving them to 90 points and to a commanding position in the second division.
With just five games remaining in the season and a 17-point gap over third-placed Brentford, the Canaries could confirm their return to the Premier League this weekend if Brentford and Swansea fail to pick up points. Norwich have been outstanding in the Championship once again this season, sweeping all before them. They have an extremely talented squad for the division and will be hoping for a win against 5th-placed Bournemouth knowing it would seal their promotion back to top-flight.
Meanwhile, initially brought in as a first-team coach under Tindall to replace Graeme Jones, who had departed to join Newcastle, Woodgate found himself in caretaker charge after just three days at the Cherries. Having then signed a deal until the end of the season to lead the team, the 41-year-old only has five regulation league games left on his current contract at Vitality Stadium. But Woodgate insists his main focus at present is steering the Dorset club to a top-six finish in the Championship.
Goals from Philip Billing and Dominic Solanke tightened Cherries’ grip on the play-off places in midweek as the win lifted Bournemouth to fifth in the league table, five points clear of play-off rivals Reading in seventh. It was also an impressive fifth straight league win and a seasonal double over Huddersfield for the in-form Cherries. Now, with this majestic run of form at just the right time of the season, their Championship play-off hopes are in their own hands.

Norwich last met Bournemouth at Carrow Road in January 2020 in the Premier League in a 1-0 win for the Canaries. The last time Norwich lost at home to Bournemouth in the league was a 3-2 defeat, all the way back in October 1959 in the third tier. The Cherries could also spoil Norwich’s promotion party with a draw here and a win will give them their first league double over Norwich since the 1953-54 season.
Both teams are in a rich vein of form, with Norwich unbeaten in their last 13 league games, winning 11 (D2) and Bournemouth winning each of their last five Championship matches. Having scored 23 goals combined in their last five games (twelve and eleven), BettingKick’s Norwich vs Bournemouth prediction is: Both teams to score
