Norwich host Middlesbrough at the Carrow Road (Norwich) in the 27th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 12.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, January 30.
Daniel Farke's side started off their new calendar year with four wins on the trot after recording three league wins and an FA Cup Round 3 win. However, they were knocked out in the next round by Barnsley, who got their revenge for the 1-0 league defeat on January 2. The Canaries remain top of the league, seven points from Swansea, and are looking to keep the gap between the top and the rest of the pack. As for Boro, they come into this match on the back of two league defeats at home – against Blackburn (0-1) and relegation candidates Rotherham (0-3). They are in 7th, three points from the play-off berth and a third consecutive defeat would take them further away from the top-six.
Norwich are determined to return to the Premier League immediately, and will stick to their attacking style of play when they host Boro next. Finland attacker Pukki looks unstoppable at the moment, and he is likely to prove a handful for the visitors on Saturday afternoon. They lost to Barnsley in the FA Cup but, more importantly, they have kept the momentum in the league which can change so quickly in the second-tier and are coming into this weekend’s match in red-hot form.
The Canaries, without Teemu Pukki and Todd Cantwell, were deservedly defeated at the Oakwell, as they bowed out of the competition after mustering just one shot on target. On the other hand, the Canaries were much more convincing against Bristol in the league. Jordan Hugill scored twice as they extended their lead at the top of the Championship. Ominously for the rest of the division, Daniel Farke's men have five more points than they had at this stage two years ago when they won the league by five points.
Boro are made of tough stuff under veteran manager Warnock and are looking up at possible promotion rather than engaging in the kind of relegation battle which he inherited last season. The turnaround has been remarkable, but they now have live up to the new expactations and push for the top-six. However, Rotherham added to the Boro’s home woes in midweek, inflicting them a third consecutive defeat at the Riverside.
Boro had the chance to move back into the play-off spots, but the Millers were ruthless on the counter-attack as they sealed a first win on Teesside since the 1964-65 season. The Millers started the stronger carried by far the greater threat in the first half. Neil Warnock's side improved after the break and dominated possession in a bid to spark a first home goal in three matches, but the efficient visitors soon doubled the lead before Giles compounded Boro's misery just moments after coming on.

The Bristol match, where the Canaries dominated the game from start to finish, had nine shots on goal while denying them a single effort on own goal and had two thirds of the possession, was – in daniel Farke’s words - their best performance of the season so far.
They are in a great position but they should not be too over the moon because there are still a lot of games to play. The FA Cup loss has showed what a difference a week could make.
Boro, on the other hand, face an ultimate test next as they travel to Norwich, against whom they have, bizzarly, lost the last five matches with an identical 1-0 result, starting all the way back in season 2017/18.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
