Nottingham host Blackburn at the City Ground (Nottingham) in the 3rd round of the 2021/22 Championship season and the match kicks off at 7.45 pm (UK) on Wednesday, August 18. Read our reasons for Nottingham vs Blackburn prediction and betting tips.
BLACKBURN TO END THE THREE-GAME LOSING STREAK TO NOTTINGHAM
Nottingham will be looking to pick up their first win of the Championship season as Blackburn visit the City Ground on Wednesday night. The Reds tasted defeats in the first two rounds of the season, losing 2-1 to Coventry at the CBS Arena and Bournemouth at home. A win over Bradford in the first round of the Carabao Cup, played between the two league games, raised the spirits, although briefly as more than 25,000 at the City Ground will be still waiting for their first league win of the campaign. The Riversiders, on the other hand, kicked off the new Championship campaign with a 2-1 win over Swansea, with the team sharing the spoils with Millwall in their second game of the season. The Rovers have been in a much better form than Forest of late, which is probably the main reason why the home fans should not be too hopeful.
SLOW START GIVES HUGHTON REASONS TO WORRY
Nottingham had another afternoon to forget on Saturday when they were beaten 2-1 at home by an injury-stricken Bournemouth side who were reduced to ten men after David Brooks was dismissed. Chris Hughton's side have plenty of talent but are now one of just two sides who are yet to claim a point in the Championship this season. The Reds showed glimpses of good quality in the game and there were some decent performances but conceded two really soft goals.
Hughton’s men had responded to going behind in the first half as Scott McKenna equalised after the break. But their opponents went back in front soon after, and even though they went down to 10 men, Forest couldn’t find a way through to get something from the game. Chris Hughton spoke of his concern, and for the Reds manager, further reinforcements cannot come soon enough as the club look to strengthen in the remainder of the transfer window.
BRERETON TO THE RESCUE AGAIN
Meanwhile, Blackburn didn’t fully recover from disappointing first-round defeat at the hands of League One outfit Morecambe in the Carabao Cup. The Rovers had 21 shots in their Championship opener with Swansea, but they managed just two in southeast London as Millwall dominated possession. When Wallace put the hosts in front, Gary Rowett’s side looked on course for just their second league win over Rovers from their past 12 meetings.
But Brereton's leveller – his second league goal in as many games - silenced the boisterous home support, scoring with Blackburn's only effort on target. Tony Mowbray's side, who had started brilliantly last season, but fell into obscurity by the time the campaign was over, seem to have adapted well to life after Adam Armstrong (left for Southampton) and Harvey Elliot (returned to Liverpool) and have claimed four points from two league games so far. They will be seen as slight favourites coming into this game.

Nottingham Forest are looking to win four consecutive league games against Blackburn for the first time since doing so under Brian Clough between 1975 and 1977, while Blackburn haven’t lost three consecutive away league matches at the City Ground for more than a century. Chris Hughton perfect Championship record against Blackburn (W7) will be an encouragement, but on a current form, we expect a more cagey affair on Wednesday night.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
