After a bright start and a comfortable 4-1 win vs Dijon Rudi Garcia men were held to draw and lost in the next two games in Ligue 1. A home win against Nimes on Friday at Parque Olympique is a must.
Lyon looked like the team to beat after their impressive performance in the first round of the Ligue 1 and 4-1 win vs Dijon but after that, they were more of the team that in last season failed to grab a place to play in Europe. After bore goalless draw vs Bordeaux, Montpellier was better at Stade de la Mosson, Teji Savanier handed the hosts a 38th-minute lead from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Dubois. The midfielder stepped up to convert a Panenka penalty for 1-0 in the 37th minute. Savanier completed his brace in the 59th minute - beating Anthony Lopes with a left-footed shot from Mihailo Ristic’s cross. With eight minutes left to play, Lyon pulled one back through Memphis Depay from the penalty spot. Coach Rudi Garcia was not in good mood regarding the result that left his team end up on the losing side following their inability to get a late equalizer. Following this defeat, Lyon sits in the 11th position with four points from three games. Captain Houssem Aouar was sent off just before the end of the first half for a tackle on Arnaud Souquet when the right-back was trying to clear the ball and he will miss the next game.
There are several issues and concerns regarding this Lyon team and the biggest one is the current transfer window because many players are unsettled by rumors. Aouar is an Arsenal target, Depay will go to Barcelona if the Catalan club manages to gather funds for Dutchman, rumors are circling on possible Dembele and Traore transfers and this all obviously can affect their performance. Lyon must stop to make individual errors, not be penalized for them, and keep a cool head. An interesting fact is that with a man less on the pitch they looked like a better team so lack of focus and intensity could be a problem. OL must be patient enough and technically outplay opponents to be closer to victories in any competition.
Nimes is almost done the same things as Lyon. They had a marvelous opening of the season, they managed to beat Brest 4-0 with brilliant and fluid attacks from the left side and connections provided from newcomer left-back Merling and impressive attacking midfielder Philippoteaux. After that, they had troubles in reaching a similar level, back-to-back defeats to the likes of Nantes and Rennes showed that there is a lot of work for players under new coach Arpinon. They lost 2-1 and 4-2 against good teams but conceding six goals in two games against any rival in this league is not a good sign for the next match. Lyon has more offensive options to hurt them at the back where they are most vulnerable at the moment.
Nîmes has largely kept faith with their squad in this transfer window and some could say that this was a mistake. After all, they avoided the relegation play-offs because they were canceled. Goalkeeper Bernarodoni left and they didn't manage to bulk up their attacking options, the main reason for bad results in the last season. Baptiste Reynet is a good replacement in the goalkeeper position and the attack should be better if Yassine Benrahou and Clément Depres stay out of the injury list, but this is a big if regarding their history. Zinedine Ferhat is, for now, the man to watch but they will also depend on Kévin Denkey flashes of potential and lucidity of Philippoteaux who could even leave the club because of his age. Roux is still unfit after coronavirus but can solve many problems in the attack in the next games. Nimes 17 attempts on goal with 9 on target against Rennes and this is a good sign for the future.Best betting sites

The home team is certainly a big favorite to win the game. It is also certain that Nimes is not good on the road but can make some problems to the Lyon side that is in some kind of reshaping for the next period. Both teams to score and over 3,5 goals are bets to consider as most probable options.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
