Barcelona travels to France on Wednesday with few chances to overturn a 4-1 deficit from the first leg of their Champions League battle with Paris Saint-Germain. Read our reasons for Paris Saint-Germain vs Barcelona prediction and betting tips.
Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick at the Camp Nou as Paris Saint-Germain are close to booking their place in the last eight with a 4-1 victory over Barcelona. Lionel Messi opened the scoring from the spot before Mauricio Pochettino’s side came back to take complete control of the last 16 tie ahead of the second leg at the Parc des Princes. Barcelona came back from a 4-0 first-leg defeat against PSG in 2017 to beat the Parisians 6-1 in the second leg to progress into the Champions League quarter-finals but another Remontada is not likely to happen this time. Both sides kept clean sheets on the weekend, PSG winning 3-0 against Brest in the French Cup and Barcelona beating Osasuna 2-0 in La Liga to maintain their place in the second spot. Whilst it would be a surprise if the hosts were to keep a clean sheet against Messi and co, PSG is expected to sit deep with an eye on soaking up plenty of possession from Barcelona and should be able to pick the visitors off at least once on the counter-attack.
Former Barca attacker Neymar has reportedly taken part in full training after missing a month due to a groin problem. With Alessandro Florenzi also expected to overcome a muscular problem in time to line up at the Parc des Princes, PSG only has two confirmed absentees in Moise Kean (coronavirus) and Juan Bernat (ACL) for the second leg. Pochettino made a raft of changes for the Coupe de France meeting with Brest - as expected - so will welcome back the likes of Keylor Navas, Presnel Kimpembe, Marquinhos, and Layvin Kurzawa to the rearguard on Wednesday.
Paris Saint-Germain: Navas; Florenzi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Kurzawa; Gueye, Paredes; Di Maria, Verratti, Mbappe; Icardi
Barcelona showed they are still capable of a comeback after they came back from a 2-0 aggregate deficit to Sevilla during the week with a 3-0 win on the night at the Nou Camp which saw Ronald Koeman’s side advance into the Copa del Rey final. Ronald Koeman’s men are in good form domestically, winning their last four games in all competitions without conceding a goal, however, scoring four times without reply away at French champions PSG in the second leg looks like a mission too difficult even for the mercurial Lionel Messi to accomplish. With Barcelona having little choice but to go all-out attack from the first minute, an entertaining affair looks on the cards with the raw pace of Kylian Mbappe a hugely potent weapon for PSG on the breakaway.
Barcelona is not so lucky on the injury front as Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto and Ronald Araujo have all exacerbated previous injuries following their comebacks, although the latter is thought to have a good chance of returning on Wednesday. Attacking duo Ansu Fati and Philippe Coutinho are definitely out of this game, while Jordi Alba fell awkwardly on his arm against Osasuna but should be available for the second leg. Aside from Junior Firpo potentially replacing Alba if he is not passed fit, Barca could name an unchanged side from the win over Osasuna, meaning that Ousmane Dembele may have to make do with a spot on the bench once more.
Barcelona: Ter Stegen; Mingueza, Lenglet, Umtiti; Dest, De Jong, Busquets, Alba; Pedri; Messi, Griezmann

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
