Parma host Benevento in a crucial game in the battle for Serie A survival at Stadio Ennio Tardini.
This is the first-ever meeting between Parma and Benevento. They have never played one against the other, neither in Coppa Italia nor in Serie B. Parma coach Fabio Liverani was optimistic after the 2-1 win over Genoa at the Marassi. ‘I have always said that this team has a lot’. Gervinho scored two against Genoa on Monday night and helped Parma secure three points with a 2-1 win at the Marassi. Eldor Shomurodov pulled one back for the hosts after 50 minutes and made the two sides fight it out for the spoils in Liguria, but Parma came out on top thanks to the Ivorian’s brace. Gervinho had two chances at the end of the first half but missed both, one from six yards and another brushed the debutant goalkeeper Alberto Paleari’s gloves and came off the bar. But he needed only one minute in the second half to double the lead and make the three points just about out of reach for the home side. The Ducali find themselves without eight players including Vincent Laurini, Giuseppe Pezzella, and Riccardo Gagliolo.

. Pippo Inzaghi praised his Benevento players for a 1-1 draw against Juventus. ‘We could have won it if we were a bit smarter on the counter.’ Alvaro Morata and Gaetano Letizia both scored spectacular goals, while Wojciech Szczesny and Lorenzo Montipò also made excellent fingertip saves. Juventus took the lead at the Stadio Vigorito when Federico Chiesa’s inspired cross-field pass found Morata for a control, shimmy, and angled drive. Szczesny kept Juve in front with a remarkable save at full stretch to push Pasquale Schiattarella’s effort out of the far bottom corner. moments later he was unable to prevent a splendid Letizia volley on Arthur’s weak clearance. Juve threw the kitchen sink at Benevento in the second half, with Montipò decisive in goal and Paulo Dybala off target, but Morata let the tension get to him with a red card after the final whistle for dissent.
Filippo Inzaghi’s Benevento is without four players. Luca Caldirola picked up an injury against Juventus last weekend and the same is true of Christian Maggio. Caldirola is expected to return to action in January, Maggio in mid-December. Iago Falque is also expected to miss the game with a muscular injury.

Suspended: Schiattarella

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
