Parma finally ended their winless run, but Genoa’s form has hit the skids in recent weeks, making this a tense relegation tussle. Read our reasons for Parma vs Genoa prediction and betting tips.
The Ducali made the most of Roma’s Europa League fatigue with a 2-0 victory, their first in 17 Serie A rounds, but they remain in the bottom two. Roberto D’Aversa’s assistant coach Andrea Tarozzi revealed Parma fans sent a motivational video ahead of their game against Roma. ‘We believe we can earn survival.’ “It was a crucial win for us. We want to dedicate the victory to our President, who is always so close to us,” Tarozzi told the media. D’Aversa was serving a one-match ban. “He has so much passion and always believed in us. We had support from our fans who sent us a motivational video that we showed the team one minute before the kick-off. Probably the spirit that we saw was also due to that. We believe [in Serie A survival], as they believe in it. We have good chances. The path is still long. But it was just a game, one game. The best is yet to come. We need to be more consistent.”
Despite an on-going injury crisis, the Ducali took an early lead through their Romanian talents, as Dennis Man set up Mihaila unmarked. Man and Stephan El Shaarawy had chances, but Graziano Pellè was brought down for a Hernani penalty. Luigi Sepe’s toughest save of the game was on a Carles Perez strike. Despite that Roma was anything near to claim a point or even put a Parma defense on the ropes, so it was just a great moment of satisfaction for a club and players that recently significantly raised the level of their performances.
Parma (4-3-1-2): Sepe; Conti, Osorio, Bani, Pezzella; Kucka, Brugman, Kurtic; Mihaila, Pellè, Karamoh
Suspended: None
Injured: Gervinho, Gagliolo, Inglese, Valenti, Iacoponi
The Grifone had been in that position and clambered out with a fantastic run under new coach Davide Ballardini, but that momentum has vanished lately with just four draws in the last six games. Davide Ballardini assured despite a few regrets over the chances in stoppages, Genoa is ‘satisfied’ with the performance and the point against Udinese. Goran Pandev had opened the scoring with smart control and turn, although he needed VAR to confirm it was not handball, and Rodrigo De Paul converted a penalty for the 1-1 result. “Genoa played a good game against a solid team with a lot of quality, so just that is already something to be satisfied with,” Ballardini told media. With Mattia Destro suspended, the Grifone was surprised by picking Goran Pandev rather than Gianluca Scamacca. “Our idea was not to give them reference points. The three Udinese defenders are all huge, so we wanted to pass it around them and make the most of the spaces rather than just put crosses in. Udinese tends to defend quite deep, so it’s difficult to find the space. We have to spread them, then try to get the forwards or even the midfielders to push into those gaps. This is a Udinese side that allowed precious little to Milan, Inter and Juventus, so they are one of the form teams in Serie A at the moment.”
Genoa is now without a win in six, but they almost ended that run with two huge opportunities in stoppages, including Valon Behrami rattling the woodwork. “Clearly, in the final minute you are clear on goal and hit the bar, it’s a regret, but over the full 90 minutes, we are satisfied with the performance. Sometimes luck isn’t on your side and you ought to be happy with a point against a very strong, humble, and hard-working team. We are truly satisfied with the performance and the point.”
Genoa (3-5-2): Perin; Masiello, Radovanovic, Criscito; Zappacosta, Zajc, Badelj, Strootman, Czyborra; Destro, Shomurodov
Suspended: None
Injured: Pellegrini, Cassata

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
