Andrea Pirlo will look to extend his unbeaten Serie A run when Juventus travel to Parma on Saturday.
Parma was left to rue wasted opportunities after their goalless draw with Cagliari at the Tardini. Jasmin Kurtic, Roberto Inglese, and Juan Brunetta failed to make the most of their chances, while Gervinho continued his impressive form in setting up the shots. The Ducali were moments away from becoming the first Serie A side to beat Milan this season but were held 2-2 in stoppages on Sunday and a few days later showed that their form is improving but the results are far from what they deserve at the moment.
It was an aggressive start from both sides, Juraj Kucka’s header and a Nandez strike forcing save, but when Osorio had the ball in the net, the offside flag had already gone up. Parma was very unlucky to lose not one, but two players to injury in the opening 30 minutes. They also should’ve gone in front after 35 minutes, but Kurtic somehow blasted wide from 12 yards when set up by a Gervinho counter-attack. Giovanni Simeone came on for the second half and tested Luigi Sepe following a Bruno Alves error, while Riccardo Sottil’s effort was smothered. Roberto Inglese failed to make the most of another smart Gervinho pull-back, having burst past much younger Gabriele Zappa. Alessio Cragno got his gloves to another Inglese effort, again created by Gervinho on the counter. Juan Brunetta came off the bench but wasted a big Parma opportunity from close range in the closing minutes.
Parma have playmaker Juraj Kucka back in action, after he played the full 90 minutes against Cagliari on his return, so the Slovakian star may start again on Saturday. Left-back Giuseppe Pezzella and midfielder Matteo Scozzarella will be assessed ahead of kickoff as they recover from injury. Danish forward Andreas Cornelius is expected to replace goal-shy striker Roberto Inglese up front, supported by in-form Gervinho and Yann Karamoh.
Parma (4-4-2): Luigi Sepe; Simone Iacoponi, Yordan Osorio, Bruno Alves, Riccardo Gagliolo; Hernani, Gaston Brugman, Jasmin Kurtic; Yann Karamoh, Roberto Inglese, Gervinho
Andrea Pirlo admits Alvaro Morata made him angry ‘but played a great game’ and insists Juventus need more concentration to win games. It ended 1-1 with Federico Chiesa and Remo Freuler thunderbolts, but Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty was one of several incredible saves from both goalkeepers. Alvaro Morata was desperate to see the offside flag up after a comical back-heel flick miss in front of an open goal. Chiesa had put Juventus in front with a swerving strike from outside the box into the top corner, while Freuler blasted his equalizer in off the underside of the bar. Both teams had several chances to win it, none better than Ronaldo’s spot-kick, parried by Pierluigi Gollini.
Juventus will be without summer signing Arthur, injured against Atalanta, so Adrien Rabiot should start instead. Defenders Merih Demiral and Giorgio Chiellini are unlikely to be risked, as they continue their comebacks from injury. Andrea Pirlo may also rest Alvaro Morata, giving Paulo Dybala another chance to build on his improving performances since his return from illness last month.
Juventus (3-5-2): Wojciech Szczesny; Leonardo Bonucci, Matthijs de Ligt, Alex Sandro; Federico Chiesa, Weston McKennie, Adrien Rabiot, Rodrigo Bentancur, Cuadrado; Alvaro Morata, Cristiano Ronaldo

Parma could be more than dangerous on counters with the lightning speed of Gervinho and Karamoh so, although Juventus is the favorite, both teams to score is the most reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
