Parma and Spezia will battle at the Ennio Tardini on Sunday trying to earn important points in their race for survival.
Parma is one of the teams that had major setbacks regarding the coronavirus situation. They are still without the injured Maxime Busi, Mattia Sprocati, and Valentin Mihalia not to mention Bruno Alves who tested positive for Covid shortly ahead of their last Serie A clash lost in the final minutes of play at Udinese. The good news is they will see Andreas Cornelius return to action although the Danish striker is expected to start on the bench.
Parma is in real problems, that was on show last week, when Udinese who hadn’t scored a single goal this season, found a net against them three times – including a last-gasp Ignacio Pussetto strike – to get the better of decimated visitors for the final 3-2 defeat of Fabio Liverani's team. There were huge question marks about whether this game would go ahead, as in the days leading up to it, Parma registered seven positive COVID-19 tests among their players. As per the medical protocol, they were allowed to continue with the remaining negative members of the squad, and the others were not named.
Parma (4-3-1-2): Sepe; Laurini, Gagliolo, Iacoponi, Pezzella; Hernani, Brugan, Kurtic; Kucka; Gervinho, Karamoh.
Suspended: none
Injured: Inglese, Mihalia, Sprocati, Dezi, Busi, Osorio, Valenti, Bruno Alves, Scozzarella, Brunetta
Spezia was eager to cause another upset after beating Udinese but missed Andriy Galabinov, Ramos, Federico Mattiello, Jeroen Zoet, Federico Marchizza, and COVID-19 case Giulio Maggiore. Fiorentina will have regrets after this 2-2 draw, as they scored two goals in five minutes and then stopped, allowing Spezia the thrilling comeback.
It took all of 100 seconds to break the deadlock, as a Viola corner found German Pezzella totally unmarked for a free header from eight yards. Moments later, Spezia was torn apart down the flanks again, Pol Lirola rolling it back across the face of goal for Cristiano Biraghi to finish at the far post from a tricky angle.
The hosts did eventually pull one back when Martin Caceres failed to cut out a through ball and Daniele Verde kept his cool to beat Bartlomiej Dragowski from the tightest of angles. The equalizer was certainly in the air through the second half and arrived when a corner was not cleared effectively, so eventually, Farias toe-poked it into the far bottom corner from 10 yards.
Spezia had the momentum and was pushing for the turnaround, they gave absolutely everything, ending the game with several players barely moving due to cramp.
Spezia has two players who tested positive for Covid-19: Riccardo Marchizza and Giulio Maggiore plus seven others who are currently recovering from injuries.
Spezia (4-3-3): Provedel; Ferrer, Erlic, Chabot, Dell’Orco; Bartolomei, Ricci, Mora; Verde, Nzola, Gyasi
Suspended: none
Injured: Mastinu, Marchizza, Ricci, Galabinov, Zoet, Capardossi, Mattiello, Ramos, Maggiore

Parma’s players are still trying to find a good connection with a new coach Fabio Liverani who had mixed success with Lecce in the last season. Spezia had more than a decent start but their injury list is bigger and bigger. This is a good chance for Parma’s second win of the season and betting on the home team should be reasonable.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
