Preston host Brentford at the Deepdale Stadium (Preston) in the 41st round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, April 10. Read our reasons for Preston vs Brentford prediction and betting tips.
Preston were involved in more dramatic late scenes on Easter Monday afternoon, as Matt Grimes' late own-goal gifted the Lilywhites a 1-0 victory away to Swansea in added time. The result leaves Preston in 16th place in the table, now a solid 13 points clear of the relegation zone with six matches to go - although Rotherham's four games in hand over some teams, including the Lilywhites, does complicate things a little. Meanwhile, Thomas Frank admitted that Brentford’s hopes of automatic promotion are fading in the wake of a 0-0 draw at home to struggling Birmingham. The Bees could not break down Lee Bowyer’s side, currently 21st in the standings, and lacked both confidence and fluency.
Preston return to action this weekend when they round off a trio of matches against teams pushing for promotion with a clash against Thomas Frank's Brentford, who are without a win in four games, at Deepdale. Preston may not be in the race for promotion, but they’re certainly having an impact in the race for the Premier League. On Friday afternoon, North End snatched a last-gasp equaliser against Norwich, giving Watford hope of catching the Canaries, and with an injury-time winner at Swansea, they did them another favour.
Twice in two games now North End have profited from their fitness and willingness to keep working right up until the final minutes, or even seconds in the case of Norwich. The Lilywhites are a tough bunch that generally don't give an inch to the opposition, but that wasn’t always the case this season where they've just not been at it. However, with late goals now going in the favour of Preston interest will remain up until the closing seconds. Taking victory late on is one of the best feelings in football and hopefully, that adds to the early momentum that Frankie McAvoy has.
On the other hand, Brentford are another game unbeaten. The Bees are 3rd in the Championship table with a clean sheet and clear of Swansea on level games. Ordinarily one would be ecstatic to be in this position heading into the final seven games of the campaign. Yet a 0-0 for Brentford against Birmingham, a fourth successive draw for the Bees, has left nothing but a feeling of deep frustration. An opportunity spurned and the gap to second-placed Watford stretched to nine points.
Whilst the play-offs are the more realistic option for the Bees now, even falling over the line into that final-four shoot-out isn’t as cut and dried as once it looked. Brentford are now closer to 7th place than automatic, with Cherries currently sitting five points behind as they look to break into the play-off zone and both Barnsley and Watford storming up. What Thomas Frank does from here to help his team rediscover their clinical edge remains to be seen. There is still time to turn it around, even if it is just the Bees’ form that returns.

Preston meet Brentford having previously celebrated a 4-2 win in London in the reverse fixture in October and could do their first double ever over the Bees who have won only once on their last six travels (D2, L3). Two latest positive results against Norwich and Swansea can’t mask the fact that Preston is in poor home having won five home games at Deepdale this season and only one from the last nine (D4, L4). Meanwhile, Brentford is in mixed form at the moment, but are coming into this match as favourites based on their position near the top of the table.
