PRESTON VS SHEFFIELD WED MATCH ANALYSIS
Preston have picked up 13 points so far and are 14th in the standings after suffering their first away defeat of the season against Rotherham (2-1) before the international break. On the other hand, they still haven’t won at home and have found the net only once in five games at Deepdale. Maybe they can reverse the trend against the Owls on Saturday. As for Sheffield Wed, they have anulled the 12 points deduction at the start of the season by drawing against Millwall (0-0) before the break, and are looking to continue their little positive run (W1-D1) after suffering four consecutive defeats in rounds 6 to 9. They are bottom of the table, but are slowly climbing their way up.
Preston have established themselves as a mid-table club in the last five campaigns as they have finished 11th,11th,7th,14th and 9th, and the big question is if they can break into that top-six bracket this season. Alex Neil, the manager, remains faithful to the Lilywhites which signals the believe he must have in this crop of players. All bar one defeat (L6) of the season so far have been by single goal marging, and if t hey can find the way to turn them into draws or wins they could be in a better position for a play-off push.
One such game was their match against the Millers before the break where Matt Crooks' late winner fired Rotherham to victory to end Preston's unbeaten away record after a dramatic finale. Preston arrived encouraged by their midweek win at leaders Reading, and with the best away record in the Championship with 13 points from 15 coming , it now high time for them to start winning points at home when they host the Owls.
For Sheffield Wed, on the other hand, this campaign will be solely about survival at any cost and it seems like they have an almost impossible task ahead. Their 2020/2021 season began with a 12 points deduction after an independent disciplinary panel decided that the club has broken the spending rules and after 11 rounds, with 0 points their season starts now. If everything goes to the plan, at least 50 points from now on should in theory be enough to guarantee safety.
Meanwhile, they appointed a new manager Tony Pulis, after Gary Monk got the sack after the goalless draw against Millwall. Welshman has managed nine teams across the top four divisions in England in a 28-year managerial career and has never been relegated and achieved great success with Stoke and others. His teams are always well organised and full of character, two things which the Owls need right now as they visit preston next.

The Lilywhites will want to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat to Rotherham before the break, and they are likely to attack the Owls from the start. A man to keep an eye on in the home team will be Jamaica ace Daniel Johnson, who scored a stunner in a friendly 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia.
Sheffield Wed, on the other hand, have been very good defensively recently, with the team aiming for their third clean sheet on the trot in the Championship. The Owls will be looking not to concede for the third consecutive time in the Championship, and seeing that Preston failed to score in five of their last six home games in all competitions, it is unlikely that the teams will be very prolific.
BettingKick’s prediction for Preston vs Sheffield Wed match is: Under 2.5 goals
