QPR VS WATFORD MATCH ANALYSIS
QPR are sitting in 18th place with 13 points from their three wins and four draws (W3-D4-L4). After back-to-back wins against Cardiff (3-2) and Derby (0-1), they were defeated against Blackburn (3-1) right before the international break. This weekend they host promotion candidates Watford, looking to bounce back with their third home win of the campaign. As for the Hornets, they stagnated a little after two consecutive wins in Rounds 5 and 6 and have managed only to draw two matches and record their 2nd defeat of the season against struggling Barnsley (1-0). However, they recovered with two consecutive home 3-2 wins against Stoke and Coventry, which was enough for them to climb to 2nd place with 21 points (W6-D3-L2).
If there's one thing that QPR provided last season, it was entertainment. The west Londoners scored 67 goals in last season's Championship campaign - a figure beaten only by Leeds, West Brom, Brentford and Cardiff. However, 40 of these goals came from Eberechi Eze, Jordan Hugill and Nahki Wells, all of whom now play their football elsewhere. They are still fun to watch, but this campaign has proven so far that they will struggle without those three.
Against Blackburn before the international break they were lucky to hang for a draw at half-time, and after Mark Warburton made two changes in the second half their performance improved significantly. However, after the equalizer they failed to find a winner and were punished deep in the stoppage time by Adam Armstrong’s second goal on the night. So, could a relegation battle be on the cards for the Hoops? It's a difficult one to call, but logic suggests a slight drop from last season's showing.
The Hornets on the other hand, are definitely looking to get back immediately to top flight and hope that a new manager Vladimir Ivic can set the foundations to their quick return to Premier League. Even with the likes of Dele-Bashiru, Masina, Perica, and Success still sidelined, the Hornets are doing alright, which is a huge sign of the quality of their set-up. Having lost ground on the title-chasers following a relatively poor run of form, they are now back at the top in the standings after the back-to-back home wins.
Against the Sky Blues, Ismaïla Sarr scored another late winner as Watford emerged on top from a thrilling second half. The Hornets took the lead, then found themselves behind only to equalize again within 12 minutes in the second half before Sarr got the chance to win the three points from the penalty spot. Ivic was pleased with the performance and attitude, as Watford pushed until the last minutes of the game. They are still not a finished article, but if they improve the small details in their game, the promotion won’t escape them.

After their back-to-back wins over Cardiff and Derby, QPR suffered a 3-1 defeat to Blackburn in their most recent Championship match. The Hoops will want to bounce back on course, and they are likely to put up a good fight against Watford. As for the Hornets, they look to build on two consecutive wins over Stoke City and Coventry City.
They are looking for an immediate return to the Premier League, and three points are all they will be interested in when they arrive in London. In their last meeting in London in the Championship, QPR defeated Watford 2-1, and with the attacking potential of the two sides, high-score does seem very likely in this match.
