Rangers had five minutes to forget in Sweden and now they are more than willing to show their quality and win against Malmo in the rematch in Glasgow. Read our Rangers vs Malmo prediction and betting tips.
Steven Gerrard’s team took a heavy confidence hit in their Champions League qualifying campaign with two consecutive defeats in a just few days. Malmo won 2-1 at home ground in the game that Rangers controlled for long spells but conceded twice in five minutes to turn the match into a nightmare. Just an added time lucky goal that was probably well deserved gave them a lifeline for the second match against a firm side from Sweden.
That defeat took their tool for sure because the Rangers suffered another at the weekend. They lost for the first time in the league since March 2020 against Dundee United and Steven Gerrard didn’t look like a happy man at all. Liverpool legend and also a Rangers legend as he managed to win the title in Scotland after many years of Celtic control of the silverware, wasn’t satisfied with team effort and performances but they will have another attempt to put things in order on Tuesday night. Ryan Jack and Nnamdi Ofoborh are injured at the moment and Alfredo Morelos has completed his quarantine and is available for selection.
Rangers (4-3-3): Allan McGregor; James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Filip Helander, Borna Barisic; Alfredo Morales, John Lundstrum, Ianis Hagi; Ryan Kent, Cedric Itten, Fashion Sakala
Malmo took the advantage of the problems the Rangers has at the start of the season. They have been patient and jumped on the occasion when the Scottish team lost their focus at the start of the second half and with goals from Soren Rieks and Veljko Birmancevic managed to turn this contest in their favor. Just a few moments from the last whistle, in the fifth minute of the added time, they lost control of the veteran midfielder Steven Davis who was at the right place at the right time to lift Rangers chances to advance into the playoff round of the qualifiers for the group stage of the Champions League.
Malmo coach Jon Dahl Tomasson has a great football career in his CV, but after some not-so-good first steps in coaching in the Netherlands, he won the title in the last term in Sweden with Malmo. They are at the top of the standings at the moment, winning three of their last four Allsvenskan matches by 11-0 scoreline, beating Sirius, Degerfors, and Mjallby but also they stopped that beautiful spell of the results at the weekend with a goalless draw against Halmstad on Saturday. Veteran Ola Toivonen remains the only injury concern for Malmo FF as he has been sidelined with a knee problem.
Malmo (4-2-3-1): Johan Dahlin; Jonas Knudsen, Lasse Nielsen, Anel Ahmedhodzic, Eric Larsson; Erdal Rakip, Anders Christiansen; Oscar Lewicki, Soren Rieks, Antonio Colak; Felix Bejimo

Rangers look like a better team but their lack of form at the start of the season is a worrying sign before the next match. They should took an advantage of the home pitch, win, and change the course of the season. BettingKick’s Rangers vs Malmo prediction is: Home team win.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
