Reading host Brentford at the Madejski Stadium (Reading)in the posponed match of the 24th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 7 pm (UK) on Wednesday, February 10.
Reading head into this match on the back of a 3-1 win against fellows play-off hopefuls Bournemouth and a goalless draw at Stoke. The seven-game unbeaten run in the league has seen them climb into fourth in the table, 7 points off the top and 6 from the automatic promotion berth (2nd place). The Royals have last suffered a league defeat against their Wednesday’s opponents(3-1) on December 16 in the reverse fixture and are unbeaten ever since (W4, D3). As for Brentford, the Bees have been impressive in the Championship so far, heading into this match in 2nd place. Having narrowly missed out promotion last season, Thomas Frank’s side are right in the hunt again, having suffered only three defeats in the second-tier this season. The Bees are taking a 20-match (W12, D8) unbeaten run in the league into the midweek’s meeting with Reading.
Reading have promotion ambitions of their own and will look to get all three points to consolidate their play-off chances. They will also look to get the record straight against the visitors after losing the reverse encounter in London (3-0) earlier, which served as a catalyst for their unbeaten run. Reading further underlined their Championship promotion credentials with a convincing win against out-of-form Bournemouth, but have experienced a little blip against Stoke on Saturday.
Stoke City's winless run stretched to 10 matches after a dour stalemate with promotion hopefuls Reading at Bet365 Stadium. Reading, who went into the game fifth in the table, struggled to create any clear-cut chances but did go close through Ovie Ejaria in the second half. As the game went on it was the Royals who were pressing for a goal, but the hosts held for a point in the end, meaning Reading extended their unbeaten run to 7 matches in the league.
Brentford, on the other hand, are the Championship’s most in-form side, picking up more points across their previous ten matches than any other team (W8, D2), and scoring 3+ goals in six of their eight wins in that run. They are currently the division’s top-scorers (53), averaging the league’s highest 1.97 goals, which is unquestionably helping them stay unbeaten in the league since October. A win in this match would give Brentford a seventh away win in 10 (D3) after beating Middlesbrough 4-1 at the Riverside at the weekend.
On Saturday, Ivan Toney's second his 22nd goal in 31 appearances this season - and his sixth in his past three games. His brace on the night helped Brentford came from a goal down to thump Middlesbrough and leapfrog Swansea to the second place in the Championship. Brentford are now unbeaten in 20 league games, a run stretching back to 24 October, and one point behind leaders Norwich with a game in hand. The bees will go top if they pick up a point from their game in hand on the Canaries at Reading on Wednesday.

Brentford have a marginally better overall record against Reading heading into this match, with 9 wins to the hosts’ 7 from their last 20 meetings in all competitions. The Royals have now lost their last three league matches against Brentford, their worst losing run against the Bees since 1991, while Brentford have won 5 of their last 7 away league matches against Reading (L2), winning 3-0 last season at the Madejski Stadium.
Reading have won 40 points from their 23 league games this season (W12 D4 L7), which is a huge improvement on last season, when they didn’t reach 40 points until Round 33. However, they welcome the most in-form team in the league and will be wary of the visitors, whose Ivan Toney has been directly involved in 11 goals in his last 10 away Championship matches (8 goals, 3 assists).

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
