READING VS BRISTOL MATCH ANALYSIS
The Royals were the only Championship side without a defeat in the league alongside Bournemouth until the 9th round (W7-D1), but then they suffered four defeats on the trot - against Coventry (3-2), Preston at home (0-3), Stoke, also at home (0-3), and Watford (4-2), after surrendering a two goals lead. They ended the losing streak in midweek, in a draw against Millwall in London (1-1), which puts them in 6th with 23 points. As for the visitors, The Robins have had a perfect start to the season having won their first four matches. However, It seems like their legs got tired after that as they recorded only 2 points from their next 5 matches (D2-L3). They responded with back-to-back away wins at Huddersfield (1-2) and Cardiff (0-1), and a home win against Derby (1-0). Lastly, in midweek they drew against Watford at home (0-0) and have climbed to 3rd in the standings.
After losing four matches on the trot, Reading fell to 6th place and remained there ahead of this weekend. After conceding only twice in the first seven matches, they have shipped sixteen in their last six. Could it be that the Royals have finally found the elusive X-factor from the previous seasons only to lose it irreparably in the last six weeks? Their identity is still forging, but it looked like they have a game plan to stick to until recently.
Against the Lions, the former Championship leaders, who had a seven-point advantage a month ago, had to come from behind to end their four-game losing run. It looked like they are in trouble again when they fell behind a minute into first-half stoppage time. But Veljko Paunovic’s men responded, and within eight minutes of the restart, the Royals were level. They now await Bristol at Madejski Stadium, looking to avoid the third consecutive home defeat by 3+ goals.
Bristol, on the other hand, look good on paper, and with a relatively easy start to the season and four successive wins, they got the early momentum going. However, that 'streaky' trait of theirs has shown its face again as they went on a barren run of five games without a victory before they strang three wins in the row. They have now climbed to 3rd after a draw against the Hornets at the Ashton Gate.
Bristol and Watford extended their unbeaten Championship runs to four games each after a goalless draw, where neither team stood out. Bristol were better in the first half, but could not make much out of it, while Watford played too cautiously. It was a match of half-chances between two sides occupying play-off places, with the home side keeping a third consecutive clean sheet.

Reading ended their losing streak last time out but are yet to claim a win in the last five games. They have failed to score in each of their last two league encounters with Bristol and have lost their last two home league games 3-0, to Preston and Stoke. The Royals have never lost three consecutive home league games by 3+ goals in their history.
Bristol City, on the other hand, have won four of their last six league games against Reading (D1 L1), winning the last two in a row, and have also won four of their first six away league matches in 2020/21, the first time they’ve won as many as four in their opening six on the road since 1954/55. Bristol City could jump back into the automatic promotion spaces with a win if results elsewhere go their way.
Bettingkick’s prediction for the Reading vs Bristol match is: over 2.5 goals
