Reading host Millwall at the Madejski Stadium (Reading) in the 29th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, February 13. Read our reasons for Reading vs Millwall prediction and betting tips.
Millwall travel to play-off hopefuls Reading this weekend as Rowett looks to extend his side’s unbeaten run to six in the Championship, whilst Veljko Paunovic’s Reading sit in 5th-place of the table, with six points separating them and the top two. The Royals ended their seven-game unbeaten run in the league (W4, D3) with a 3-1 home defeat to new leaders, Brentford. On the other hand, Rowett guided his side to a 4-1 win at home to Sheffield Wed last time out. It was arguably their best performance of the season and it saw them up to 14th in the table, now seven points clear of the bottom three.
Reading have promotion ambitions and will look to get all three points to consolidate their play-off chances. They will also look to get the record straight against the visitors after a draw in the reverse fixture in London (1-1) earlier in the campaign, which served as a catalyst for one of their unbeaten runs. Reading further underlined their Championship promotion credentials with a convincing win against out-of-form Bournemouth, but are now experiencing a little blip as they followed a goalless draw at Stoke with a defeat against the Bees.
Veljko Paunović’s Reading are the only Championship side yet to draw a home league game (W9, L5). Fans will hope for a win as Reading are entered as favourites here, a tag they’ve capitalised on in seven of nine such home league matches (W7, L2). Plagued by inconsistency since the festive period, their 3-1 loss after scoring the opener last time out means each of their last ten competitive games have produced a different result to the last (W4, D3, L3). They will hope that trend continues here as they look to increase their foothold in the top six.
As for Millwall, it’s another huge task for the Lions this weekend. But they travel to Berkshire on the back of some improved form, knowing that a win could lift them into the top-half of the table. The Lions extended their unbeaten run in the league to five matches (W2, D3) with a draw against table-toppers Norwich last Tuesday, but, after three consecutive draws, they will hope a convincing victory against bottom-placed Owls is at the beginning of a longer winning run.
However, a top-six charge still looks unlikely as they sit closer to the drop zone than the playoff spots and have not patched together back-to-back league wins since October. Gary Rowett’s Millwall have picked up 20 of their 35-point haul away from home though, but inconsistency is rife - four of Millwall’s five away league wins this term followed defeat in their prior trip.

Reading meet Millwall having recorded twice as many wins – 10 to Millwall’s 5 - from their last 20 meetings overall. Reading have won 40 points from their 24 league games this season (W12 D4 L8), which is a huge improvement on last season when they didn’t reach 40 points until Round 33. Meanwhile, the Lions have been struggling for goals, and an average of just 0.92 goals scored per league fixture has been their main downfall.
