Real Sociedad hosts Napoli at the Anoeta Stadium on Thursday in the next derby of the UEFA Europa League.
Real Sociedad has good momentum, they are awaiting this game with a great spirit and big confidence after a 4-1 win over Huesca on Sunday in La Liga, which gives them another opportunity to sit at the top of the table. A brace from Spain international, skillful lefty attacking midfielder and forward Mikel Oyarzabal and goals from midfielder Portu and young Swedish striker Alexander Isak earned the victory for Imanol Alguacil's side.
Real Sociedad claimed a 1-0 away win at Rijeka thanks to a second-half stoppage-time goal from Jon Bautista. Current La Liga leaders are in fantastic form heading into the midweek Europa League clash. They have lost just once in eight games in all competitions this season. Their great play in La Liga has them atop the table after seven rounds with 14 points and with top clubs still without touch at the start of the season, Real Sociedad could fight for a top-four place.
They have a few injuries, as the team captain and former Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi and Luca Sangalli are both out. There are a big question mark and a doubt over the availability of former Manchester United winger and Belgium international Adnan Januzaj, young attacker Ander Barrenetxea, winger Martin Merquelanz, right-back Joseba Zaldua and midfielder Igor Zubeldia.
Real Sociedad (4-3-3): Alex Remiro, Andoni Gorosabel, Aritz Elustondo, Robin Le Normand, Nacho Monreal, Martin Zubimendi, David Silva, Mikel Merino, Portu, Alexander Isak, Mikel Oyarzabal
Napoli had a tougher time when they beat Benevento 2-1 on Sunday in Serie A. Goals from the captain and attacker Lorenzo Insigne and striker Andrea Petagna secured the win but they had to make a turnaround. It was a close family affair as Benevento's goalscorer was Roberto Insigne, brother of Napoli's more known Lorenzo.
Napoli requires a result after a shock 1-0 loss at home to AZ in their group opener. Defeat in Spain could condemn them to an early European exit. Defensively the visitors have been shaky, failing to keep a clean sheet in their last three games after a 6-0 hammering of a COVID-depleted Genoa.
Napoli has no major injury concerns and manager Gennaro Gattuso has a fully-fit squad at his disposal. Piotr Zielinski and Eljif Elmas returned to training with Napoli for the first time since they tested positive for COVID-19. The pair of midfielders had tested positive on October 1 and were finally given the all-clear on October 24. They passed their medical tests with the Lega Serie A, the necessary step before they can be allowed to resume physical activity after the virus. It’s unlikely they will play against Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday, but they will probably make the trip.
Napoli (4-3-3): Alex Meret, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Kostas Manolas, Kalidou Koulibaly, Elseid Hysaj, Fabian Ruiz, Stanislav Lobotka, Dries Mertens, Matteo Politano, Victor Osimhen, Hirving Lozano

Real Sociedad is in fine form but Napoli on the other side has an individual quality that could be even competing for the last-16 in the UEFA Champions League. Both teams to score look like a most reasonable bet at the moment.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
